What Democrats need to do

March 20, 2018 by Guest Post

I know why the Democratic party can’t win. First, they don’t have a message. The Republicans came to the American workers with promise of bringing jobs home. They provided a positive outlook and addressed what the disenchanted workers wanted to hear.

Secondly, the Democrats have very polarizing leaders. Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi aren’t really viewed favorably among moderates and independents. But on the other hand, neither are the leaders of the Republican party.

Third, Democrats must find candidates that are willing to take the heat of an election. You cannot expect to win if you do not field candidates. Letting the other guy win unopposed doesn’t work. Don’t have candidates? Well, start looking and recruiting. There are good people who don’t want to become involved, but with a little encouragement would.

The last thing I see is the Republicans are organized. I know there are Democratic Committees, I just don’t know where. My wife, a Democrat, has tried since we moved back here to become involved. She has left her name at fair booths, and with known Democrats. No one calls her back. If this is the way they think they can reach out, sorry, it doesn’t work that way. If you want folks to get the message, you must deliver it.

So, if the Democratic Party wants to renew itself, it needs to find a message, find candidates to deliver it, and then organize to get the message out.
