The Victor Pirates may be turning a corner this basketball season. On Thursday night, the Pirates lost to Hot Springs in a close game, 48-45. Then, on Friday night, the Pirates came back from being six points down at the half to beating Lincoln, 60-45.
The Pirates had a strong second half against Hot Springs but couldn’t stop the Savage Heat. Sophomore Skyler Webberson had 13 points to lead Victor.

Victor got off to a slow beginning against Lincoln. The Pirates had a difficult time stopping Payton Peterson who finished with 22 points. However, in the second half, Victor began to get the ball to the left-handed Webberson who scored layup after layup to put the Pirates in the lead. Once Lincoln’s Peterson fouled out, the Lynx’ offense slowed down while Victor pulled ahead. Webberson finished with 31 points.

The Florence Falcons bounced back from a loss to Stevensville last Tuesday to top St. Ignatius, 73-63. After trailing at the half, the Falcons scored 42 points in the second half to take the win. Marcus Zeiler had 22 points, Brent Stroppel finished with 21, and Tyce Pedersen had 18.

Stevensville lost a close game to Whitefish in non conference action. The Bulldogs came back in the third quarter to score 21 points and take a one point lead into the final frame and then went on to win, 47-45. Logan Roth had 21 points for the ‘Jackets.

Corvallis fell to Columbia Falls, 60-49. The Blue Devils made a run in the second half but it was not enough. Ryal Jessop had 21 points to lead Corvallis and Kobe Jessop added 12.

The Blue Devils lost a close game to Frenchtown on Saturday. Corvallis had the lead at the half by eight points but a strong third quarter by Frenchtown powered the Broncs to the 47-43 win. Zach Jessop had 10 points to pace Corvallis.

Hamilton continued to be perfect with a 60-43 win over Butte Central, improving their record to 7-0 in conference play and 15-0 overall. Carter Kearns finished with 20 points for the Broncs including three treys and six rebounds. Tanner Goligoski sank two three pointers and finished with 12 points.

The Tigers came back to defeat Two Eagle, 53-52, in a close game. The Tigers held off the Two Eagle team in the fourth quarter to take the win. Smith finished with 17 points and Hanson added 14. Brandon Winter was also in double figures with 13 points.
