Hamilton Broncs continue winning

The Hamilton Broncs maintained their status as the No. 1 team in the state with a couple of wins this week and improved their record to 9-0. Hamilton took on Stevensville on Thursday. The Broncs came out playing power basketball and had a 28 point lead by the end of the half. They went on to win, 96-58. Carter Kearns scored 25 points, and Hunter Omlid had 23 points. Stevensville was paced by Logan Roth who had 29 points.

Hamilton – Carter Kearns 25, Hunter Omlid 23, Tanner Goligoski 13, Ty Barnes 12, Carson Rostad 8, Trey Searle 6, Cam Rothie 4, Bridger Bauder 3, Ty Chouinard 2.

Stevensville – Logan Roth 29, Devlin Sherman 7, Alex Gavlak 6, Jacapo Carletto 4, Ivan Yazvak 3, Sean Craft 3, Riley Rust 3, Kaleb Behner 1.

On Saturday, Hamilton took on Dillon at home. After a close first quarter, the Broncs pulled ahead and held the lead, although Dillon challenged in the late minutes of the game. Hamilton won, 74-65. Kearns had a season high 37 points. Tanner Goligoski had 21 points.

Dillon – Lemieux 14, King 16, B. Andersen 8, Rakich 4, Fitzgerald 14, Allison 9.

Hamilton –  Kearns 37, Goligoski 21, Rothie 8, Omlid 5, Chouinard 2, Rostad 1.

The Lady Broncs also defeated Dillon. Both teams struggled in the second quarter and again in the third quarter. But Hamilton was able to hold off a late surge by the Lady Beavs to take a 37-30 win. Cariann Kunkel finished with 17 points to lead the Lady Broncs.

Dillon – Fitzgerald 11, Rouse 5, McKay 5, Jones 4, Petersen 3, Larson 2.

In other Class A action, the Corvallis boys lost to Butte Central, 50-27. Butte Central pulled away in the second half to secure the win Caeson Jessop had eight points to lead the Blue Devils.

Corvallis – Caleb Warnken 3, Ridge Albright 5, Caeson Jessop 8, Ryan Wiggins 6, Kobe Jessop 2, Garrett Brown 3.

Butte Central – Simkins 8, Heaphy 8, Harrington 3, Sestrich 6, McCloskey 9, Holter 4, Richards 12.

The Butte Central Maroons defeated Corvallis 45-33 in Southwest A action. The two were tied at the end of the first quarter but Corvallis only scored one point in the second quarter and then couldn’t make up the difference. Lilly Berry had 10 points to lead the Blue Devils.

Butte Central – Thatcher 11, Bolton 11, Strizic 2, Michelotti 4, Murphy 3, Joyce 12, Kump 2.

Corvallis – Hannah Hutchison 2, Calla Haldorson 9, Hannah Martin 4, Ashlynn Nixon 2, Tayler Wright 4, Lilly Berry 10, Denali Smith 2.

The Lady Yellowjackets of Stevensville took on Polson in non conference action on Friday. Stevensville took and early lead in the first quarter and then held Polson scoreless in the second quarter. However Polson came back in the second half to take the lead and win, 40-37. Haley Kampka led the Lady ‘Jackets with 10 points.

Stevensville – Haley Kampka 10, Angel Richard 8, Evynne Alexander 7, Maddie Paul 4, Maddie Sims 3, Kennedy Praast 3, Kayla Schmiedeke 2.

Polson – Frydenlund 14, Smith 14, Motichka 6, Baker 2, Pierre 2, Gravelle 2.
