Broncs top Frenchtown, Whitefish

The Hamilton Broncs improved to 8-0 and maintained their top-ranked spot on the power poll for Class A this weekend. The Broncs topped Frenchtown by four points and then knocked down Whitefish by 37 points.

Frenchtown held Hamilton to only eight points in the third quarter and had a one point lead heading into the final frame of the game. But Hamilton rallied with 21 points in the fourth quarter including eight points by Hunter Omlid who finished with 19 points. Cam Rothie also sank two field goals and two free throws for six points the quarter. Hamilton won, 64-60.

On Saturday, the Broncs came out strongly and never looked back in their non conference game against Whitefish. Hamilton won, 71-34. Carter Kearns scored 20 points including four treys, and Tanner Goligoski added 17 in the win.

Whitefish – Keuylian 3, Anderson 5,  Fauth 4, Kemm 8, Walburn 6, Botner 8.

Hamilton – Rothie 5, Rostad 5,  Bauder 8, Chouinard 5, Barnes 4, Omlid 7, Goligoski 17, Kearns 20.

Stevensville and Florence met up in non conference action on Thursday night. The Falcons built up a sizable lead in the first three quarters but had to hold off a 21 point barrage by the Yellowjackets in the fourth quarter. Florence went on to win, 56-47. Marcus Zeiler and Brent Stroppel each had 14 points for Florence and Tyce Pederson added 12. Logan Roth nailed 24 points for the ‘Jackets.

Florence, who was ranked No. 6 in the state in Class B, traveled to Anaconda to take on the No. 4 Copperheads. Anaconda features one of the most prolific scorers in the state, Braxton Hill. However it was not the Copperheads’ night at Florence pulled away to win, 63-52 and improve to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play.

The two were tied at the end of the first quarter but then Florence pulled away in the second half. Anaconda just could not get through the tough Falcon defense in the second half. Zeiler had 26 points and Stroppel finished with 15 points.

Anaconda – Galle 5, Swainson 7, Mikalatos 21, Hill 14, Buck 5.

In other Class A action, Stevensville lost to Dillon, 67-23. Roth finished with 11 points for the Yellowjackets. Anaconda defeated Corvallis, 62-23 in non conference play. Ridge Albright led the Blue Devils with seven points. Frenchtown topped Corvallis, 56-45 on Saturday. Ryal Jessop led the Blue Devils with 16 points and Garrett Brown added 10.

In Class C action, Victor defeated Alberton-Superior, 49-45. The game was tied at the end of three quarters but Victor came back to take then. Mason Agee finished with 14 points and Will Jessop had 13 points.

Alberton-Superior: – Coon 2, Haskins 2, Mask 13, Callison 16, Waddle 7, Voll 3, Radford 2.

Victor – Mason Agee 14, Jerod Halley 8, Skyler Webberson 4, Will Jessop 13, Waylon Barta 5, Garritt Gleason 5.

The Pirates lost a close game to Valley Christian on Saturday. The Eagle topped Victor, 44-39 in 13C action. Jessop finished with 14 points and Agee had 13.

Victor – Agee 13, Webberson 4, Jessop 14, Eli Rosen 4, Tristan Chavez 4.

Valley Christian – Colwell 5, Christiaens 8, Reimer 14, Becker 7, McCloy 10.

Drummond topped Darby, 73-35. Dylan Parks finished with 11 points for the Tigers.
