Hamilton Broncs off and running

The Hamilton Broncs played a couple of tough teams and easily handled them at the Tip Off Tournament held at the Adams Center over the weekend. The Broncs, who made their first appearance at state in over 20 years last year, came out on fire against Libby and scored 58 points in the first half alone. Hunter Omlid and Tanner Goligoski each had 17 points to pace the Broncs. Carter Kearns and Cam Rothie added 13 and 15 points respectively.

Hamilton – Hunter Omlid 17, Tanner Goligoski 17, Cam Rothie 15, Carter Kearns 13, Carson Rostad 9, Tyler Barnes 6, Ty Chouinard 4, Bridger Bauder 3, Josh Dickemore 3, Trey Searle 2.

Hamilton played Browning on Saturday. The two teams are both fast paced with a lot of emphasis on scoring. Only one point separated them at the half but Hamilton went on a scoring spree in the fourth quarter and came out with the 73-68 win. Omlid and Kearns each had 20 points to pace Hamilton.

Hamilton – Omlid 20, Kearns 20, Goligoski 16, Rostad 7, Chouinard 6, Rothie 4.

Corvallis split their games at the tournament. With new coach Zane Warnken at the helm, the Blue Devils are in a transition year but look to get tougher as the season rolls on. Polson topped Corvallis, 52-45, in the first game. Zach Jessop had 14 points to lead the Blue Devils.

Corvallis – Zach Jessop 14, Ryal Jessop 11, Kobe Jessop 7, Ridge Albright 7, Carson Jessop 2, Jace Barcus 2, Caleb Warnken 1, Jeff Stoker 1.

Polson – Main 14, Lanier 12, Askan 11, Kelley 6, Lake 3, Erickson 2, Dalbey 2, Wenderoth 2.

Corvallis ran past Ronan, 63-49, in their Saturday game. Although Ronan held a two point advantage at the end of three quarters, Corvallis came back to score 23 points in the final frame while allowing only seven Ronan points. Kobe Jessop finished with 20 points.

Ronan – Finley 1, Misa 14, Panzeteanga 6, Durheim 7, Camel 21.

Stevensville lost to Ronan on Friday. The Yellowjackets are playing without two year starter Dalton Bragg right now. However Colby Meeds and Alex Gavlak are taking up the slack along with Logan Roth. Meeds scored 11 points in the game while Gavlak had 18.

Ronan – Camel 26, Misa 7, Dennis 3, Bird-Webster 3, Panzetanga 6, Durheim 6.

Stevensville – Alex Gavlak 18, Colby Meeds 11, Sean Kraft 9, Logan Roth 3, Jacapo Carletto 2, Ivan YazvaYazvaYazackkk 1.

In Saturday’s game against Libby, the Yellowjackets played tough the first half but was unable to contain the Loggers in the second half. Libby won, 63-55. Roth had 11 points and Meeds and Riley Rust each added 10 apiece.

Libby – Johnston 36, Peck 7, Davis 7,  Beagle 5, Jones 3, Johnson 3.

Stevensville – Roth 11, Meeds 10, Gavlak 10, Rust 10, Craft 8, Yazvak 5, Behner.

In Class B action, Florence defeated Belt, 47-36. Brent Stroppel finished with 22 points to lead all scorers. Dillon Christopherson added nine and Parker Hotsinpiller had eight points.

Darby split their games over the weekend. The Tigers topped Lincoln, 62-56. Nelson Smith finished with 17 points and Dylan Parks added 13 in the win. Aaron Hansen had 10 points.

The Plains Horsemen ran over Darby, 65-26. Parks finished with 10 points.

Victor lost to Philipsburg, 54-33. Mason Agee had 18 points to lead the Pirates. Charlo topped Victor, 58-34. Will Jessop finished with 18 points to pace Victor.
