The Hamilton girls soccer team kept their momentum going in the first round of the playoffs on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Polson. Both goals occurred in the first half but then the strong Bronc defense held off the Polson team.

Rylee Wiediger scored at 10 minutes with a free kick. Just 15 minutes later, Olivia Zepeda took a Mallory McGill assist and booted the ball up and over the Polson keeper for the goal.  Polson took 10 shots on goal while Hamilton took 23. Polson’s keeper, Megan Rost, had 12 saves. Hamilton’s keeper, Maddy Martin, had three saves.

Hamilton’s offense is led by Tessa Della Silva and Wiediger. Della Silva has scored 24 points this year according to the website league lineup.com. Wiediger has 21 points for the Broncs. Zepeda has scored nine points this season. Hamilton has a record of 9-0-3. Their three ties were at the hands of Loyola (1-1), Belgrade (1-1) and Stevensville last week.

Hamilton will play Laurel in semi final action at noon on Saturday, October 21. The ticket prices for the match are $7 for adults and $6 for students. Passes will not be honored. Laurel has a record of 12-1-1.

Stevensville’s season came to an end in Columbia Falls on Saturday under the lights. The WildKats scored six goals while holding the Yellowjackets scoreless. Stevensville took nine shots on goal while Columbia Falls had 24 shots. Keeper McKenzie Brownlee had 18 saves for Stevensville. Columbia Falls had nine shots.

The Hamilton boys fell to Belgrade, 4-2,  in a tough, physical match that left a few Broncs with battle scars. Hamilton scored a goal in each half. Caelen DeVall took a Rio Hammond assist and hit the net at 32 minutes. In the second half, Stephano Valleho scored off an Aryton Duncan assist at 60 minutes. Hamilton took seven shots on goal while Belgrade had 18 shots. Daniel Schlender had nine saves and probably a black eye.
