The Hamilton Broncs traveled to Whitefish for their first game of the season. First year coach Bryce Carver said it was great to get out of the smoke and the team really played well.
Hamilton scored 27 points in the first quarter and went on to win, 47-10, over the Bulldogs. Quarterback Caron Rostad got the scoring going with a 16 yard run to the end zone. Bridger Bauder kicked the PAT and the Broncs were off and running. It was Bauder who got the call for the second touchdown. He raced 85 yards for the six points and then kicked the PAT. Camron Rothie then caught a 15 yard pass for the score and Bauder kicked the PAT. The final touchdown of the quarter was a 35 yard punt return by Bauder. However the PAT failed.
In the second quarter, Tyler Chouinard was the go-to guy for the Broncs. He caught a 15 yard pass for the score first. Rostad went back to Chouinard once more for a 32 yard touchdown reception. This time the PAT was good. The clock was running as Hamilton had a 35 point margin. Hamilton scored once more in the third quarter when Declan O’Brien made an 11 yard run for the end zone. Bauder once again kicked the PAT.
Whitefish scored once in the second quarter when Carver Gilman kicked a 43 yard field goal. They scored again in the fourth quarter on a seven yard pass from Justin Conklin to Mark Anderson with Gilman kicking the PAT.
The Tigers put up 26 points in the first quarter alone in the 68-6 win over Troy. This is Troy’s first year playing 8-man football. They dropped down to Class C this year.
Dylan Parks sparked the scoring barrage with a 29 yard run for six points. Next up was Nelson Smith with a 13 yard run. Drake Horvath then scored on a 29 yard run. Parks called his own number and raced nine years for the score. Horvath took the ball 26 yards for another score.
Parks had two more scoring receptions, one from Nelson Smith for 65 yards and one from Smith for 21 yards. Smith and Parks traded places for a 17 yard scoring pass. Dylan Schlapman caught a 25 yard from Smith for a TD. Parks finished the scoring with a two yard plunge.
Corvallis defeated Browning, 39-24, in Class A action. Florence lost to Jefferson County (Boulder), 13-0, in a game played at Washington Grizzly Stadium. Victor defeated Arlee, 36-28, in a bit of an upset. Arlee was predicted to be one of the top teams in the Western C.
