Benefit food booth
Do you remember how great those wonderful fresh, fluffy and delicious baked potatoes tasted last year? Spuds R Us is back at the Ravalli County Fair! Look for the bright yellow banner on food row! Spuds R Us is made up of volunteers from the Corvallis Grange, Bitter Root Humane Association, Daly Mansion and Historic St. Mary’s Mission. These groups have come together to raise money for their worthy causes. All proceeds from the food booth will support these organizations. For more info call Michele at 363-5449.

North Valley Pachyderm Club
The North Valley Pachyderm Club will meet Friday, September 1 at 12 noon at The Frontier Café, Hwy 93 in Stevensville. Guest speaker will be Commissioner Chris Hoffman. The North Valley Pachyderm Club is an educational arm of the Republican Party. All are welcome.
Hamilton Class of ’57 reunion
Hamilton High School Class of 1957 will be gathering to celebrate its 60th anniversary of receiving diplomas on September 1 at the Golden Agers meeting hall (old Jefferson School gym, end of S. 5th Street) at 12 noon or whenever you can get there. Spend the afternoon visiting and catching up on the last five years. At 5 p.m. there will be a dinner catered by Caffe Firenze. For information contact Louise at 363-1458.
‘Pint Night for Pets’
There’s no better reason to drink beer than to help a wonderful cause. And you can do both on First Friday, September 1 at the Blacksmith Brewing Company, 114 Main Street in Stevensville at “pint night” for the Bitter Root Humane Association. Come enjoy some great brews from 5 to 8 p.m., take some chances on the 50/50 raffle and join the fun, with a portion of the proceeds going to the animal shelter.
First Friday at library
Come hear old time fiddle and banjo tunes on Friday, September 1 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the North Valley Public Library, performed by locals Jack Mauer and Dr. Marshall Bloom. They blend playing traditional and modern instruments with a splash of banjo history. While enjoying the strumming, plucking, picking, banjo bonanza, view the art of Eric Brunet. Eric’s art show is up only for the duration of the program and features gorgeous local scenery. First Friday events are held in conjunction with the Stevensville Main Street Association. Stevenville First Friday Community Informational Series, held September 1 at the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church Building at 7 p.m., will feature Montana State Representatives Ed Greef, HD 88, and Nancy Ballance, HD 87, speaking on Montana legislative issues. All are welcome to this free series.

Gardening class
A free class on Back to Eden Gardening will be held Saturday, September 2 at 12 noon at the Victor Community Garden. Joshua Michael will teach you how to garden…nature’s way! Class will consist of an hour of classroom discussion and Q&A, followed by about an hour of practical hands on training in preparing a fall plot. During class students will learn: why wood chips are possibly the best medium; why nature never tills the ground; how to create a weed free garden with wood chips; why PH neutral soil is the best; how to prepare your “Back to Eden” Garden in the fall; what is the difference between dirt and soil; how to keep moisture in the soil.
