The Bitterroot Community Band presents the Five Valley Accordions on Wednesday, August 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the bandshell in Claudia Driscoll Park in Hamilton. The concert is free and all are welcome.

Social justice discussion
A community discussion on Social Justice will be held Thursday, August 17 at 6 p.m. at Chapter One Book Store in Hamilton. Bruce Schneier’s book “Data and Goliath” will be used to discuss the implications of data mining, by both the government and corporations, on your privacy and more broadly, on democracy. This event is free and open to the public.
History lecture
Are you interested in historic towns of the Bitterroot Valley? Come hear John Stroud, local author of “For the Love of the Bitterroot”, speak about little known ghost towns and historic communities on Thursday, August 17 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the North Valley Public Library in the Community Room. Back Country Horsemen
Bitter Root Back Country Horsemen host their monthly meeting on Thursday, August 17 at Boulder Creek Horse Camp. Potluck dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. and the general meeting starts at 7 p.m. Bring your own chair and beverage since this will be an outdoor meeting. The program will include the Ravalli County Fair update, along with a discussion of the upcoming East Fork and Boulder Creek trail projects. Guests are welcome. North Valley Pachyderm Club
The North Valley Pachyderm Club will meet Friday, August 18 at 12 noon at The Frontier Café, Hwy 93 in Stevensville. Guest speaker will be Terry Nelson, Vice Chairmain of Montana Republican Party. The North Valley Pachyderm Club is an educational arm of the Republican Party. All are welcome.

Agaidika Heritage Day
The Sacajawea Center in Salmon, Idaho is holding its annual Agaidika Heritage Day celebration on August 19. Once again the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes will be traveling to the Center from Fort Hall to hold a spiritual walk/run (7 a.m. at Tendoy School) as well as a singing and dancing exhibition, bison feast, and storytelling. Along with the tribal events there will be Lewis and Clark interpretive talks, heritage demonstrations, the 1805 Living Experience, a Dutch Oven lunch by Cowboy Cuisine, a fish tent and nature play activities provided by the BLM/USFWS/USFS and more. This event commemorates Sacajawea’s return to the Lemhi Valley in 1805 as well as highlighting the history of the Lewis and Clark Expedition in Lemhi County. Kids Back to School event
The Stevensville Clothes Closet free store is hosting its annual Back to School Kids event on Saturday, August 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Basic school supplies such as pens, pencils, paper, binders, crayons and backpacks will be available free to kids who need these items.
The Clothes Closet is a non-profit labor of love for Stevensville and the surrounding communities, completely managed, organized and staffed by volunteers. Folks in the community donate clothing, linens, kitchen ware and, for this special event, people donate school supplies for our community’s children.
Much needed donations are being collected for this event from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. For more information contact Gail Fisher at 777-5694.
Three Mile Picnic
The annual Three Mile Community Picnic will be held Saturday, August 19 at Lone Rock Park. There will food, live music, games, raffles, vendor booths and a silent auction. Contact Colleen at 777-3710 for more information.

Center for Spiritual Living
“Compassionate Intention: Living without Resistance” with Jason Brown, a computer and electronics technician, mystic and multi-dimensional reality theorist, will be the program at the Sunday Service on August 20 at 9:30 a.m. at 328 Fairgrounds Road (across from Hamilton High School). Jason will share about turning from imaginary resistance, a perceived reality of opposition in our lives, to caring compassionately and letting go into the ebb and flow of life. Eclipse viewing at Library
Join the fun and experience the Great American Solar Eclipse on Monday, August 21 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the North Valley Public Library. Free and safe solar eclipse viewing glasses provided for attendees, while supplies last. Make a special solar eclipse themed treat and craft! Rotary Club
Cynthie Fisher, local artist and big game hunter, will be the speaker for the next meeting of the Hamilton Rotary Club, on Monday, August 21 at 12 noon at BJ’s Restaurant, 900 N. 1st, Hamilton. Cynthie started painting professionally in 1986, after winning the first duck stamp contest she entered. She’s since won 15 state contests, as well as being the featured artist many times over for Ducks Unlimited, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the Wild Turkey Federation, The Mule Deer Foundation, and many other conservation organizations. Her favorite activity is big game hunting; she has hunted all over North America, been to Russia and Central Asia, and traveled to Africa fifteen times, taking many fine trophy animals.
