The Stevensville Garden Club meeting on Wednesday, August 2 at 1 p.m., will feature Floral Department Superintendent Nina Eadie speaking on “Ravalli County Fair Time”. MDMH sports physical program
All male and female valley athletes in middle and high school are invited to the Marcus Daly Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, August 3 or Wednesday, August 9 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for the annual sports physical program. Over the past ten years, this program sponsored by Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital and Medical Providers has raised $85,000 for the valley’s school athletic programs. The cost is $25 per student and 100% of the proceeds will be donated back to the students’ school athletic program. Cash or check only, payment is due at the time of visit, no refunds. Enter the Marcus Daly Rehabilitation Center through the main entrance, located on the south west end of Westwood Drive.
All participants must have a sports physical form. They are available at medical clinics or through your coach, or online at www.mdmh.org. Parents must fill out and sign the sports physical form and accompany their child at the examination. The physical includes height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, vision, evaluations for posture, joints, strength, flexibility, heart, lungs, abdomen, ears, nose, and throat.

North Valley Pachyderm Club
The North Valley Pachyderm Club will meet Friday, August 4 at 12 noon at The Frontier Café, Hwy 93 in Stevensville. Guest speaker will be the club’s own Vice President Jay Blakslee who is a US Army Vietnam-era Veteran. Jay will be talking about his Run for The Wall; this was his 7th year participating with 800 others, mostly veterans. They do the ride to recognize and honor all veterans who have served our nation including POWS, MIAS and those who can’t ride. The North Valley Pachyderm Club is an educational arm of the Republican Party. All are welcome.
Museum fundraiser
Knockerball, a Ravalli County Museum FUNdraising event, will be held Friday, August 4 from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, August 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Claudia Driscoll Park in Hamilton. There will be tournaments, freestyle, slip-n-slide, free kids’ activitie, food, beer and music. Climb inside a giant ball to run, flip, bounce and slide! The events will be kicked off with a night of Freestyle Knockerball followed by a day of tournaments and slip-n-slide. Sign up your team now! First Friday at NV Library
North Valley Public Library is hosting the Bittergrass String Band, a local band featuring fiddle, guitar, mandolin and bass, on Friday, August 4 at 6 p.m. This great group of local musicians regularly meet and play toe-tapping, hand-clapping, old-time music. First Friday at St. Stephen’s
“Reverse Mortgages – Pros & Cons” will be presented by Paul Kink, realtor and senior real estate specialist, on First Friday, August 4 at 7 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 203 Main Street, Stevensville. Senior Center fundraiser
Stevensville Senior Center will hold its annual fundraiser during Creamery Picnic on Saturday, August 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Come and enjoy the air conditioning with a deluxe hamburger, homemade potato salad or chips, and cold drink for $6.00, or $6.50 with cheese. Homemade pies will be served for $1.50/slice. The Senior Center is located at 100 Mission Street ( follow the signs).

“Compassion’s Components” with I Serenity, a licensed CSL Spiritual Coach and CSL Sunday Service Coordinator, starts off this month’s theme of ‘Spiritual Living through Compassion and Caring’ by sharing key elements for opening our hearts and bringing greater understanding to life’s challenges at the Sunday Service, August 6 at 9:30 a.m. at 328 Fairgrounds Road (across from Hamilton High School). SHS Class of ’57 reunion
The Webers will open their cabin (known as the Shin Cook cabin) on Burnt Fork Creek from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 6 for reunion activities. The goal is a more relaxed mixing in an unstructured environment to renew old friendships for what may be the group’s last reunion.

Clifford the Big Red Dog visits the library on Monday, August 7 at 10:30 a.m., compliments of Friends of PBS. Get your photo taken with Clifford and join the fun activities and crafts. Rotary Club
The Rev. Patricia (Patti) Duckworth will be the speaker for the next meeting of the Hamilton Rotary Club, on Monday, August 7 at 12 noon at BJ’s Restaurant, 900 N. 1st, Hamilton. Patti will be speaking on the need for, as well as the challenges of, “Crucial Conversations”. Patti is the Associate Executive Minister of American Baptist Churches of the Northwest (which includes Idaho, Utah, Montana, Washington and a few churches in neighboring states). One of her primary responsibilities is to work with conflicted churches. Patti is also a Ph.D. candidate at the International Baptist Theological Seminary in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Kids manners series
If we want something, we say “please”. We say “thank you” when someone helps us or does something for us. Having good manners is important if we want to get along with others. Kids are invited to come to the North Valley Public Library on August 9, 16, and 23 from 1 to 2 p.m. for a three-part manners training series for kids ages 4-8, based on the book “Manners Can be Fun” by Munro Leaf. Women’s Newcomers Club
Have you recently retired and have extra time on your hands? Maybe you are new to the Bitterroot Valley and would like to meet new people. Or perhaps you’ve lived here awhile and would just like to meet other women. Run for the River
Join the Bitter Root Water Forum for a scenic run/walk along the Bitterroot River on Friday, August 11. This family friendly 5K begins and ends at Hamilton’s River Park. The race starts at 7 p.m., with the Splish Splash DASH at 6:45 p.m. The DASH is FREE to children age 10 & under with a t-shirt included.
