Rexine ‘Dean’ Hennies

July 5, 2017 by Editor

Missoula – Rexine “Dean” nee Montgomery Hennies died suddenly Wednesday, June 14, 2017 of a massive stroke in Missoula, Montana. She was born July 10, 1950 and was 66 years young. Her family attributes her death to the Veterans Administration’s policy of delay and deny after her body was weakened by lack of proper and timely receipt of medicines and referrals to doctors.

Mrs. Hennies was born in San Francisco, California to Venice nee Gordon and Gilbert Montgomery and graduated from Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Montana in 1968. She joined the Air Force in 1969 and after serving her country for four years in Virginia and Alaska returned to Montana to work at the University of Montana in Missoula.

Although Rexine did not pursue a degree she did take many courses at the U of M that satisfied a wide ranging curiosity. She did sport parachute jumping while in the Air Force and met her husband John “Nuts” Michael Hennies on a motorcycle ride to Sturgis Week in South Dakota. They were married on August 10, 1991 on top of Homestake Pass at Homestake Lake, Montana with an impressive number of motorcycling friends mixed with relatives of the happy couple to celebrate the occasion.

Rexine Hennies did not have children. She is survived by her husband John Hennies of Missoula, sisters Mitzi Van Asdlan of Alaska and Nola Notman of Oregon, and brother Burt Montgomery of Idaho.

No service will be held but a party in Rexine’s memory will be announced at a later date. Messages of condolences may be sent to www.whitesittfuneralhome.com.
