Darby Library July events
Parents and caregivers will have two Kinder Camp sessions during the month to help them prepare their children for kindergarten. These sessions will be Wednesdays, July 19 and 26 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Those unable to attend may catch two more Kinder Camps on August 2 and August 9 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
For those with questions about attending college, a representative from Bitterroot College will be at the Library every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to answer any questions about college registration, costs, financial aid, etc. Also during July, Library patrons have the rest of the month to continue or to begin participating in the Summer Reading Program, “Build a Better World.” Patrons may get a reading card at the Library and get it punched whenever they read or attend a library event. Each completed punch card is a chance to win prizes at the library. The program wraps up August 5 with a raffle drawing at noon,

Fire preparedness program
Be prepared for fire season. Come hear Alex Hartless from the USDA Forest Service give expert advice on how to best prepare yourself and your property for the possibility of a wildfire, on Thursday, July 20 at 6 p.m. at the North Valley Public Library, 208 Main Street, Stevensville. Back Country Horsemen
Bitter Root Back Country Horsemen host their monthly meeting on Thursday, July 20 at Larry Creek Trailhead. Potluck dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. and the general meeting starts at 7 p.m. Bring your own chair and beverage since this will be an outdoor meeting. Program speaker will be Roland Cheek, the last surviving member of a group of Montana men who started Back Country Horsemen, now a national organization. Guests are welcome. If you are a rider or hiker who wants to help keep trails open and meet like-minded folks, you’re invited to attend. North Valley Pachyderm Club
The North Valley Pachyderm Club will meet Friday, July 21 at 12 noon at The Frontier Café, Hwy 93 in Stevensville. Guest speaker will be Jim Lynch, retired DOT Director, who will be speaking about the DOT and the misguided gas tax. The North Valley Pachyderm Club is an educational arm of the Republican Party. Toastmasters
Bitterroot Toastmasters will host a Summertime Party on Friday, July 21 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Kiwanis Park at 375 South 9th, Hamilton. Bring a dish to share and your family and friends! Art in the Park
The Bitterroot Arts Guild will hold its annual Art in the Park on Saturday, July 22 at the American Legion Park, corner of Second and Bedford Streets near Farmers Market in Hamilton. The event is free although everyone is encouraged to bring a donation of non-perishable food for the Darby Bread Box. The hours for this one-day summer show are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The show features unique crafts, one of a kind art, and jewelry; something for everyone.

“Open Communication Requires Dropping Your Agenda” by Kris Bayer, a discussion and dialogue facilitator and Young Living Essential Oils consultant, is the Sunday Service topic for July 23 at 9:30 a.m. Kris will share how the old mechanical view of life no longer explains our current reality and will inspire us to open communication, moving us forward as individuals and as a community through essential human connection. Our Savior Lutheran VBS
Our Savior Lutheran Church of Stevensville invites local children to Vacation Bible School the week of July 24-28. VBS is free of charge and open to children aged four through those entering sixth grade. The children will discover that the whole Bible points to Christ, our Savior. Through Bible stories they will learn how God saves His children from their erring ways.
Registration begins at 8:45 a.m. on Monday, July 24th. Crafts, music, games, and Bible activities will be featured Monday through Friday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Snacks and beverages will be provided before outdoor activity time. Voluntary offerings will be collected in chapel daily for mission projects.

To find the church, head south from Stevensville on the Eastside Highway. Roughly one mile past Burnt Fork Market, turn east on Pine Hollow. Cross the tracks and the canal, and the church will be on your left, marked by three crosses.
Rotary Club
Angela Dondero, Counselor at Hamilton High School, will be the speaker for the next meeting of the Hamilton Rotary Club, on Monday, July 24 at 12 noon at BJ’s Restaurant, 900 N. 1st Street, Hamilton. Nez Perce Trail program
A variety of Nez Perce National Historic Trail Interpretive Programs will be hosted this summer at the Lolo Pass Visitor Center, located on the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests along the Idaho–Montana state line on Highway 12. From June through September, visitors can enjoy free, family-friendly events which celebrate the Nez Perce National Historic Trail.
On Wednesday, July 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (PDT), Allen, Josiah, and Lynette Pinkham will be presenting “Facts Behind the Artifacts: Men and Women in Traditional Nez Perce Culture.” Allen Pinkham is a gifted storyteller and highly respected Nez Perce Tribal Historian. He shares stories of creation, coyote, and legends about landmarks and travel. His children, Josiah and Lynette, are both well known for their expertise in tribal culture, arts, and crafts. Together they will be presenting a look into the tradition and cultural roles of Nez Perce families.
