Women’s Newcomers’ Club
Are you new to the Bitterroot Valley? Have you recently retired? Have you been here for awhile and would just like to meet new people? If so, the Bitterroot Women’s Newcomers Club welcomes you to the next meeting, on Thursday, July 13 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the First Christian Church, 328 Fairgrounds Road in Hamilton. Speaker this month will be Nansu Roddy, Director of Adult Programming at the Bitterroot Public Library. Solar energy presentation
Dan Brandborg from Sustainable Building Systems will present a program on solar energy on Thursday, July 13 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the North Valley Public Library. Learn about the advantages of solar powered energy, how to set up your own systems, and the array of solar professionals in the Bitterroot Valley. This presentation will include a slideshow of different solar arrays, components, and energy saving charts. North Valley Public Library is located at 208 Main Street, Stevensville. Stevensville Civic Club
The Stevensville Civic Club will meet Thursday, July 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Bitterroot Family Church on the corner of 4th & Church. A special Creamery Picnic meeting will be held Thursday, July 27 at 6:30 p.m. at Bitterroot Family Church. Call Tonya Eckert at 239-9431 for more information.
Hamilton Masons
Masonic Brothers and Sojourners of Ionic Lodge #38 will hold the monthly Stated Communications Meeting on Thursday, July 13 at the Lodge, 115 S. 3rd Street, Hamilton, for the discussion of business that regularly comes before the Lodge. The Stated Communications will be opened on the Master Mason’s Degree, Entered Apprentice Degree or Fellow Craft Degree if a Brother(s) of these Degrees is present. A light meal will be served in the Lodge dining hall at 6:30 p.m. with the Stated Communications meeting to begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. Sojourners (visiting Brothers) will be provided assistance if their Masonic work is a little rusty. Band concert
Bitterroot Concert Band features local soloist trumpeter Elliott Oppenheim playing the famous Haydn Trumpet Concerto in Eb maj on Thursday, July 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hamilton Bandshell, and again on Thursday, July 27 at 7 p.m. at the Daly Mansion. Oppenheim lives in the Bitterroot and plays internationally.
Community Band
Bitterroot Community Band will perform on Thursday, July 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bandshell in Claudia Driscoll Park in Hamilton. The concert is free and open to the public and features Sousa and King marches, Broadway tunes, pop and classical works.
Victor park board
The Victor Park District is changing its meeting to the second Thursday of each month. The regular July meeting will be on Thursday, July 13 at 7 p.m. in the Farmers State Bank meeting room in Victor. Members will be discussing upcoming events in the park and ballfield, keeping the irrigation systems alive during these hot days, and possible future projects. More volunteers are needed for Victor parks, and there are opportunities regardless of whether you can make the meeting. Come and enjoy Victor Park with its new restroom facilities, and call Roger at 961-3953 if there are any questions.

Lunch in Victor Park
Enjoy Lunch in the Victor Park served on Fridays, July 14, 21 and 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. by Naomi Chapter #19 of Victor. The menu is hot dogs, chips, ice cream cup and water or soda for a donation of $5.00. Funds will be used for sponsoring a Girls State delegate and a $500 Val Moore Music/Performing Arts scholarship to a student of Victor, Corvallis or Stevensville High School. Bitterroot Trail ride
Bicycle enthusiasts of all ages: Celebrate the Bitterroot Trail by signing up to ride to Stevensville from Missoula or Hamilton on Saturday, July 15. Shorter rides also available. Swim in the Stevensville pool, enjoy vendors and delicious food at the farmers market, and attend the Bike & Brew Fest with music by local musicians. Ride back the same day or camp in Stevensville and return on Sunday, July 16. Quilt show
The Bitterroot Quilters Guild will hold their Bi-Annual Quilt Show on Saturday, July 15 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. This year’s show, Gardens of Quilts, will be held at ten different Bitterroot Valley locations, with quilts displayed outdoors in members’ yards and gardens. Admission is just $2, and maps will be available at all ten locations, plus the Bitterroot Valley Chamber of Commerce, 105 E Main, Hamilton and at Patchwork Quilts, 1720 N 1st, Hamilton.
The Bitterroot Quilters Guild promotes quilting and friendships among individuals who are interested in quilting. The Guild provides opportunities to share individual projects and become inspired by the work of others. Membership is open to all.
The Guild also gives generously by providing donations of quilts to children in trauma and to others who need a ‘hug’ in Ravalli County. The Quilts 4 Kids Group makes quilts that are placed in the sheriff’s and some fire vehicles, and distributed through organizations like Emma’s House. The Comforters Group works on twin and lap sized quilts that are donated to Hospice of the Bitterroot, Marcus Daly Hospital and other community agencies.

Accordion club picnic
Five Valley Accordion Club will hold a picnic on Saturday, July 15, at Lolo Community Center, Hwy 93, Lolo, sponsored by the Lolo Senior Lunch Program. Bring your own beverages. Cost is $4 members, $5 general admission. There will be bingo at 10 a.m., lunch at 12 noon, ice cream social at 12:30, and music and dancing starting about 1 p.m. Supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. catered by Hayloft followed by music and dancing until the cows come home. “Freeing the Child Within” by Carolyn Durgin, owner of Bitterroot Massage and Drummer Girl Drums, will be the presentation at the Sunday Service on July 16 at 9:30 a.m. at 328 Fairgrounds Road (across from Hamilton High School at First Christian Church). Carolyn will share some of the lessons, along with examples of open dialogues that gave her the courage to transform her life and discover her genuine self. Music at the Mission
A special music concert will be held Sunday, July 16 at 7 p.m. at Historic St. Mary’s Mission Chapel, 315 Charlos Street, Stevensville. Rotary Club
The speaker for the Monday, July 17 meeting of the Hamilton Rotary Club is Dr. Peggy Mecham. Peggy is a professional theatre director and associate professor at Community College in Philadelphia. She is a 17-year part time resident in the valley. She will discuss the value of theatre training in personal and professional development. Darby Library July events
A family activity is “Design Your Park,” where participants are urged to design and build their dream park. Part 1 of this activity will be Tuesday, July 18 at 2 p.m. followed by Part 2, on July 25 at 2 p.m.
Parents and caregivers will have two Kinder Camp sessions during the month to help them prepare their children for kindergarten. These sessions will be Wednesdays, July 19 and 26 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Those unable to attend may catch two more Kinder Camps on August 2 and August 9 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The Library will also participate in Rev-Up, the National Disability Voter Registration Week campaign, from July 17 to 21. The Library will offer one-to-one voter registration help from 1 to 4 p.m. each day; this assistance is available to anyone who would like to register to vote.
For those with questions about attending college, a representative from Bitterroot College will be at the Library every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to answer any questions about college registration, costs, financial aid, etc.
Also during July, Library patrons have the rest of the month to continue or to begin participating in the Summer Reading Program, “Build a Better World.” Patrons may get a reading card at the Library and get it punched whenever they read or attend a library event. Each completed punch card is a chance to win prizes at the library. The program wraps up August 5 with a raffle drawing at noon,

RCEDA
Ravalli County Economic Development Authority will hold its regular monthly Finance Committee meeting on Tuesday, July 18 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, July 19 from 3 to 5 p.m. Both meetings will be held at the RCEDA office, 274 Old Corvallis Road, Hamilton. The meetings are open to the public.
Stevi school board
The Stevensville School Board of Trustees will hold a special board meeting on Tuesday, July 18 at 7 p.m. in the Stevensville Music Center Choir Room.
