The valley teams had games early in the week and then traveled to Butte for Butte’s Laverne Combo tournament. Hamilton defeated Loyola on Tuesday, 13-4. Stevensville topped Corvallis, 17-7. In a long, 10 inning game that was almost stopped due to darkness, Mission topped Florence, 7-6, on Senior Night in Florence.
The Laverne Combo tournament gives teams from across the state a chance to check each other out before the state tournaments. Unfortunately Mother Nature didn’t cooperate this year with snow, rain, thunder and lightning hitting the skies over Butte. Corvallis notched a win over Conrad, and another over Cut Bank. Hamilton topped Lewistown. The Stevensville/Glasgow game was called because of the weather but Glasgow had an 8-0 lead in that game. Florence didn’t play at all as they were only scheduled on Saturday.
