Ravalli County Economic Development Authority will hold its regular monthly meeting of the Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, January 18 from 3 to 5 p.m. Both meetings will be held at the RCEDA office, 274 Old Corvallis Road, Hamilton. These meetings are open to the public.

Farm Business Workshops
A winter workshop series in Corvallis is designed for beginning farmers and ranchers interested in starting a new business or adding a new enterprise. Planning For On-Farm Success offers expert presenters from the Montana University System, and panels of experienced producers and ag professionals to help participants understand and develop the tools they need to launch a successful new enterprise.
The workshops, hosted by MSU Extension in partnership with the Community Food & Agriculture Coalition, will be offered Wednesdays, January 18 through March 1, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the following topics:
Jan. 18: Farm Strategic Planning
Jan. 25: Researching Your Market
Feb. 1: Farm Marketing & Promotion
Feb. 8: Managing Your Financials
Feb. 15: Financial Decision-Making
Feb. 22: Financing Your Farm
Mar. 1: Managing On-Farm Risks
Participants will learn about local resources, network with local producers and service providers and get hands-on support working on their own business plans. Workshops cost $15 each or $75 for the full seven-part series. Full series registration includes a copy of the Planning for On-Farm Success workbook. Workshops will be held at the Western Agricultural Research Center at 580 Quast Lane, Corvallis. Back Country Horsemen
Bitter Root Back Country Horsemen host their monthly meeting on Thursday, January 19, at the Corvallis School Cafeteria on Eastside Highway in Corvallis. Potluck dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. and the general meeting starts at 7 p.m. If you are a rider or hiker who wants to help keep trails open and meet like-minded folks, you’re invite to attend. Program speaker Eric Hoover of the local Office of Emergency Management will present information on the Community Animal Response/ Rescue Plan currently being formed in Ravalli County. “Finding Rest, Renewal & Delight in Your Busy Life” will be presented by Becky Lovejoy on Friday, January 20 at 12 noon at O’Hara Commons & Sustainability Center, 111 S. 4th Street, Hamilton. Western MT Addiction Services will be holding a Responsible Alcohol Sales and Service training on Thursday, January 26 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at 209 N. 10th, Suite C in Hamilton. The cost of the training is $15 for materials. The “Let’s Control It” curriculum is approved as a state-mandated RASS training by the MT Dept of Revenue and participants will receive a certificate of completion.
