Florence girls continue winning

The Lady Falcons put up two wins over the weekend. Playing a balanced offense and smothering defense, Florence relied upon Chloe Arthur and Danielle Zahn to handle the ball and make the plays.

The stifling Lady Falcon defense held Libby to only 17 points in three quarters while the Florence shooters went to town and built a sizable lead. They went on to win, 56-29.

Libby – Rainer 12, Winslow 9, Monigold 3, Ennega 2, Hageness 2, Bradeen 1.

Florence continued to hold their own and notched another win, this time over Shepherd who finished fourth in the state Class B tournament last year. The Lady Falcons came out strongly and continued to build to a 59-34 win. Danielle Zahn led all scorers with 17 points.

Shepherd – Kinsey 12, Buyse 9, Murdock 4, Moran 3, Barney 3, Murray 2, Dougherty 1.

Florence – Danielle Zahn 17, Chloe Arthur 13, Rilee Mangun 13, Makenna Liles 12, Emma Stensrud 4.

On Friday, the Florence boys took on Belt, the fourth place finisher in Class C last year. Belt was able to stop Marcus Zeiler and went on to win, 74-35.

Florence – Marcus Zeiler 4, Ethan Stensrud 8, Brent Stroppel 17, Dillon Christopherson 4, Carson Katen 2.

Belt – Stroop 11, Green 11, Bodner 15, Maki 11, Olson 6, Heitzman 14, Hennes 6

Florence came back and earned their first win of the season with a 71-61 victory over Shepherd. Brent Stroppel and Dillon Christopherson each had 19 points to power the Falcons to the win.

Florence – Marcus Zeiler 15, Hunter Harrington 2, Trevyn Wood 2, Ethan Stensrud 12, Brent Stroppel 19, Dillon Christopherson 19, Parker Hotsinpiller 2.

Shepherd – Butsch 15, Michels 8, Nebel 20, Trotter 5, Lepley 2, Barthuly 11.
