Stevensville – Edwin “Ned” Larson, 67, passed away December 14, 2016 at his home in Stevensville after a long battle with cancer.
He was born April 18, 1949 in Riverside, CA. He graduated from Poly High School in 1967. The Army called him to serve his country in 1969. He was in Vietnam until December of 1970. He was proud to be able to serve the United States of America. Ned then married Terri (Black) Larson and shortly after they moved with his family to Nuevo, CA. He worked at Riverside International Raceway until it closed in 1988. That is where his family developed a love for all racing, Nascar, NHRA, Off Road, and Motocross. Ned and his son, Gary, enjoyed the times spent riding and racing motorcycles. Then Ned went to work for C&R Systems in Corona and San Marcos, CA. His hobbies changed to include the love of chuck wagon competitions after he and friends built one. They competed in areas of California, Scottsdale, Chandler, AZ and Ruidoso, NM. In 2006, Ned went to work for the Forest Service in Stevensville, then retired and stayed in Stevensville with his family. He realized Montana did not have a chuck wagon competition and went to the Stevensville Main Street Association and asked to have a chuck wagon event connected with the Western Heritage Days. They liked the idea and this year will mark the 7th annual chuck wagon competition with as many as 10 chuck wagons to attend. This is something Ned was very passionate and proud to be a part of each and every year since 2010.
Ned’s other passions included sports with his grandsons Troy and Trent Larson. He went to every baseball and basketball game, wrestling events, martial arts, soccer and any and all other activities Troy and Trent were involved in.
Ned was known to love his family like no other. He was always kind, caring, and compassionate to others.
Ned is survived by his wife Terri Larson; son Gary Larson; and his two wonderful grandsons, Troy and Trent Larson, all of Stevensville.
He will truly be missed by family and friends.
