The Corvallis boys’ soccer team continues to hold the best record in the state. They have won eight games and not lost a game yet. This week, the Blue Devils took on Stevensville and Loyola. Corvallis has scored 34 goals in the eight games while allowing only 10 goals to be scored against them.
Corvallis topped Stevensville, 5-1, after a shaky beginning. Stevensville’s Jake Finley scored the only goal for the Yellowjackets at the three-minute mark. After that it was all Corvallis. Cayden Ayers took an Emmett Semple assist in for the goal at five minutes. Then Brennan Williams fed Alec Sangster the ball for a goal at 49 minutes. Roberto Rizzo scored at 59 minutes when Ayers shot him the ball. Ayers and Semple paired up at 64 minutes for another Corvallis goal. Avery Walden scored the final goal at 73 minutes. Corvallis took 12 shots on goal while Stevensville took four. Tristan Pearson had seven saves for Stevensville while Justin Catanach and Nick Spinetta combined for three saves for Corvallis.
Corvallis defeated Loyola, 3-1, on Saturday. Ayers scored at 38 minutes off a Rizzo assist and then again at 60 minutes off a Semple assist. Semple scored the final Blue Devil goal at 67 minutes. Catanach had four saves for Corvallis. They took 23 shots on goal while Loyola took seven.
Hamilton topped Stevensville, 3-0, on Saturday. Adrian Garcia scored at 52 minutes. He was followed by Aldo Rodriguez at 68 minutes and Drew Brackman at 78 minutes. Hamilton took 16 shots on goal while Stevensville took 13 shots. Tristan Pearson had two saves for Stevensville.
Earlier in the week, Hamilton lost a close match to Frenchtown, 4-3. Rodriguez put the Broncs on the board at 38 minutes. Rio Hammond and Nick Turner also scored. Hamilton took 18 shots on goal. Daniel Schlender had seven saves for Hamilton.
