Valley athletes in middle and high school are invited to the Marcus Daly Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, August 10 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for the annual sports physical program. The cost is $25 per student and 100% of the proceeds will be donated back to the students’ school athletic program.
“This program is a gateway for athletes to get affordable sports physicals without an appointment and it is great that the money goes back to our school athletic program,” said Jesse Pearson, football player at Victor High School, sitting with athletes from Corvallis and Hamilton.
On Thursday, August 4, more than 120 students, many accompanied by parents and siblings, funneled through the doors of the Marcus Daly Rehabilitation Center. Parents visited while the students got their physicals. The atmosphere was buzzing as height, weight and blood pressures are checked. Travis Williams, Physical Therapist on the Marcus Daly Rehabilitation Team, consulted with students about their muscle aches, injury prevention and more. Dr. Timothy Woods, orthopedic surgeon, was on site to assist the medical providers with skeletal questions.
Rocky Bailey, father of Victor volleyball player Sadie Bailey, said, “We are very thankful for a high quality sports physical at an affordable price. The physician gave our daughter excellent attention and listened to her needs. Our daughter was not rushed through and we felt that she really received a quality exam. Thank you very much to all involved, it is amazing what our local hospital and doctors do for our community!”
Over the past nine years, this program sponsored by Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital and medical providers raised over $78,000 for the valley’s school athletic programs.
Marcus Daly medical staff members donate their time to make this program possible. This year’s participants are: Frederick Ilgenfritz, MD at Bitterroot General & Vascular Surgery; Michael Dolecki, MD and Timothy Woods, MD with Bitterroot Orthopedics and Sports Medicine; Walker Ashcraft, MD, Robert Smith, MD and Anne Weinberger, ANP at the Bitterroot Physicians Clinic; Yvonne Courchesne, MD, and Nicolett Weston, FNP at Corvallis Family Medicine; Ann Kimmel, MD at Hamilton Obstetrics and Gynecology, H. If you’re planning to take advantage of the August 10 program, parents should accompany their children and have a sports physical form filled out and signed. The forms are available at doctor’s offices or from coaches, online at www.mdmh.org and at the event. The physical includes height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, vision, evaluations for posture, joints, strength, flexibility, heart, lungs, abdomen, ears, nose, and throat. Payment is due at the time of visit, cash or check only and no refunds.
