The valley’s track teams were in Missoula at Big Sky at the Kim Haines Memorial Meet and in Anaconda at the Wayne Estes Meet. Corvallis came away the big winner in Anaconda, sweeping the boys and the girls team scoring. The girls won 10 events and the boys picked up seven first place ribbons.
The Blue Devil boys owned the distance races. Josh Jessop won the 1,600 with a time of 4:41.39. He was followed by Ronald Venema, Carson Jessop, Andrew Jessop, Spencer Jessop and Grant Martin. In the 3,200, Venema won with a time of 10:19.56. He was followed by Carson Jessop, Martin, Joel Haas and Spencer Jessop. Alex Sangster took second in the 800 and Andrew Jessop was third. Cole Wohltman finished second in the 100 and in the 200. Jackson Tully finished fourth in the 200 with Ridge Albright taking sixth. Jakob Dalby took fourth in the 400. Ridge Albright won the 110 hurdles with time of 17.48. Both the 400 relay and the 1,600 relay took second in their respective races.
In the jumping events, Braxton Roth continued to fly. Josh Reynoso was second in the pole vault. He finished first with a leap of 40’2” in the triple jump. Luke Channer threw the shot put 44’3” to win that event. He was followed by Spencer T Jessop at fourth and Ian McGuiness in fifth place. Skylar Jessop won the discus with a throw of 163’11”, the best in Class A in the state to date. Spencer Jessop was second and Luke Jessop was fourth. Zach Jessop won the javelin with a throw of 174’8”.
Penny Jessop was a double winner for the Corvallis Girls. She won the 100 meter race with a time of 13.40 and the 200 with a time of 26.94. Heidi Nisly won the 1,600 in 5:48.30. She was followed by Lynn Reynoso in third, Albany Jessop in fourth and Grace Kurfman in fifth. Albany Jessop won the 3,200 with a time of 13:10.54. Kurfman finished in second place. Both the 400 relay and the 1600 relay races were won by Corvallis. Stephanie Stoker won the 300 hurdles with a time of 48.03. Brittney Pettinger-Piscapo was second. In the 100 hurdles, Stoker finished fourth and Pettenger-Piscapo was fifth.
In the throwing events, Tayler Wright won the shot put with a throw of 33’10 ½”. Brookelyn Palin was second with 32’3”, Morgan Weidow was third with 31’2”, Denali Smith was fourth and Emelyne Neville was sixth. Palin won the discus with a throw of 117’. Calla Haldorson was right behind with a throw of 116’7”. Neville finished fifth and Wright sixth. Zena Smith won the javelin with a throw of 135’3”, the best in Class A. She was also third in the 200.
Stevensville’s Hunter Casey finished first in the 800 with a time of 1:59.08. He was third in the 400. Justin Saxon was fifth in the 400. John Diepstraten was fourth in the 300 hurdles and fourth in the javelin. Chayse Richards took second in the long jump and James Fry was fifth in the triple jump.
Mariah Hinson of Stevensville took first in the long jump with a leap of 15’6”. She was second in the triple jump and second in the javelin. Megan Pendergast finished second in the 100 hurdles, fourth in the 200, fourth in the long jump and third in the triple jump. Payton Tillotson was fourth in the shot put and fourth in the discus. Cecilia Hoornbeck was second in the 400. Faith Zeiler was fourth in the high jump. Hannah Fry was sixth in the triple jump.
Florence had seven boys place. Dean Klakken was second in the 400. Harvey Blake took fifth in the 800. Connor Thorne took third in the high jump. Marcus Zeiler was second in the triple jump. Bridger Dragoo was sixth in the discus and Dawson Thrasher was sixth in the shot put. Caden Venters was second in the javelin with a throw of 171’8”.
Autumn Round of Florence won the 400 with a time of 1:04.41. She also won the triple jump with a mark of 33’3 ½”. She was fifth in the long jump. Alexis Taulbee was third in the 100 hurdles and Jade Hunsucker took fourth in the javelin.
Hamilton’s girls finished third behind Plains and Seeley-Swan at the Kim Haines Meet. Baylie Duce won the triple jump with a hop, skip and jump of 35’2”. She was fifth in the long jump with an effort of 15’9”. She also took fifth in the 400. Jacie Schmalz won the 1,600 with a time of 5:21.22, more than seven seconds faster than second place. Kacia Guisinger cleared 5’6 in the high jump to take first. Ashlee Searle was third at 4’11”. Caitlin Gillespie finished fifth in the 300 hurdles and Ani Mason was sixth. Hennessey Meyer finished second in the pole vault with 8’6”. Breann Duce finished fourth in the triple jump with 34’1”. Kalian Rocheleau was third in the discus with a throw of 114’11” and teammate Brooke Wiltbank was fifth with 104’7”. Aleesha Redmon was sixth in the javelin with a throw of 105’2”. The Hamilton 400 relay team finished sixth behind Deer Lodge, Seeley-Swan, Loyola, Charlo and Drummond
Lily Lang of Darby took sixth with a time of 5:44.75. Casey Ehmann of Darby took third in the 300 hurdles and sixth in the 100 hurdles.
The Hamilton boys finished second behind Boulder. Darby was sixth. Cam Meikle was fourth in the 1,600 with a time of 4:44.04, 14 seconds behind first place Bryant Edgerton of Broadwater. Aidan Carmody was second in the pole vault with an effort of 12’6”. Ky Burch was second in the triple jump. His effort of 40’8” was just three inches shy of first. Jaylen Taggart was second in the discus with a throw of 144’3”. Michael Graves finished third in the javelin with a throw of 148’9”.
Darby’s Evan Duggan won the 3,200 race with a time of 10:38.73. Duggan was fifth in the 1,600. John Beckers won the javelin with a throw of 153’9”. Ky McCollaum finished second in the 300 hurdles, and was sixth in the 110 hurdles. Dylan Parks was fifth in the 300 hurdles. Darby’s 1,600 relay team took fifth behind teams from Boulder, Charlo, Manhattan Christian and Ronan.
