The Darby Tigers were the upset kids of the District 13C tournament. After notching only two conference wins in the regular season, the Tigers came back to finish third in the tournament. They played Hot Springs, the third place finisher in the District 14C tournament, on Monday night for a chance to advance to the Western C Divisional in Hamilton this weekend. Those results were not available at press time.
Darby defeated Drummond in overtime to claim third place. The Tigers had a 12-point lead going into the break but the Trojans are a third quarter team. Their tough defense limited Darby to only two points in the frame to pull within one point. The teams battled back and forth to a 33-tie game at the buzzer. Freshman Dylan Parks came through for Darby in overtime, scoring six points alone as Darby went on to win, 44-39.

Darby surprised Philipsburg in the earlier loser out game on Saturday. The Tigers were led by Zach McCrossin’s 11 points. Parks had eight and Zack Kline, Andy Smith and Cory Valenzano each had four points.
Darby opened their tournament play against the 17-1 Valley Christian Eagles. The Tigers stayed close in the first quarter and only trailed by five at the buzzer. But then Valley Christian’s offense lit up and their defense shut the Tigers down to only nine more points in the game. Valley Christian won, 68-23. McCrossin and Kline had seven points each, Parks had four, Beckers 2, and Smith one point.
Darby then played Victor. The two battled throughout the game but Darby pulled away in the final minutes of the game when Parks hit a trey. Darby went on to win, 36-33, and end Victor’s season.

Victor opened against Drummond. The two were close throughout the first half before Drummond pulled ahead and went on to win, 42-34. Austin Lewis, Riley DellaSilva and Colt Neville had nine points each. Logan McKinley had four points and Jayce Allred and Jared Halley added two and one respectively. Victor ended their season with a record of 7-9 in conference play and 8-12 overall.
