Missoula – Arthur Richard Salter, 82, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 at his home in Missoula of natural causes.
He was born April 10, 1933 in Denver, CO to Charles and Louise Salter. Art attended school in Missoula. He served four years in the U.S. Navy as a seaman boat engineer. After his honorable discharge from the Navy he worked as a diesel mechanic until he retired in 1995. After retirement he went to work in Florida as a grounds keeper at a golf course for a few years before returning to Montana. He liked to golf.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Louise Salter, and a sister, Janet Adams.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Delbert Mickens of Castle Rock, CO; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Terrie Salter of Missoula; a sister, Charlene Miller of Missoula; a brother, Charles Salter of Missoula; a step-son, Brian Huffman of Florida; four grandchildren, Amanda, Nathan, Samantha and Kristen.
A graveside service with military honors was held on Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial donations may be made in Arthur’s name to Partners in Home Care Hospice, 2687 Palmer St., Suite B, Missoula MT 59808.
