Stevensville picked up their first win of the season with a 56-43 win over Polson. The Lady ‘Jackets held the Lady Pirates to only 15 points in the first half while scoring 30. They held on in the third quarter and then poured 18 more points in the fourth quarter. Payton Tillotson broke loose for 15 points. Makayla Davids added 12 and Mariah Hinson 10 in the win.
Stevensville only has one senior on the team, Deanna Blair. The rest of the starters are juniors Mariah Hinson, Makayla Davids, and Payton Tillotson, and sophomore Megan Pendergast. The young team is gaining confidence and is moving to the basket more and more. Davids, in particular, has found her range and is becoming a consistent scorer for Stevensville. Tillotson is a defensive force under the basket and Hinson is a threat from almost anywhere. This combination is beginning to gel and could be a spoiler as the season progresses.
