They are not the conventional free throw shot but this method works for Victor’s Jayce Allred. The senior hit two free throws to pad the margin for the Pirates in their District 13C win over rival Darby. Darby pulled within two points with less than a minute remaining and then forced a turnover by the Pirates. But a foul by Zack Kline sent Victor’s Riley DellaSilva to the line where he hit one. Darby had one more possession before Allred went to the line sink his granny shots. Victor won, 42-37.
Victor’s Austin Lewis had one assignment in the game and that was to stop Zach McCrossin who averages 18 plus points a game. Lewis stuck to the junior like glue and held him to only 12 points. Kline stepped up and filled the gaps but it was not enough.
While Lewis was guarding McCrossin, freshman Jared Halley stepped up and hit six points, and Logan McKinley finished with nine with several rebounds. Colt Neville, the Pirates’ man in the middle, was in foul trouble and sat out much of the third and fourth quarter. Allred also had a nice defensive game.

Drummond came to Victor on Saturday. The Trojans are in third place in the conference. But Victor was still running off their momentum from Darby’s game and jumped out to an early lead. By the end of the first half they were up by two. The half time break slowed down both teams in the third quarter. Victor still had the lead but a 20 point fourth quarter gave the Pirates another win, 47-37. Colt Neville broke lose for 29 points in the game.

Darby fell to Lincoln, 55-44, on Friday. The Tigers could not contain the Lynx in the fourth quarter. McCrossin had 23 points in the loss.

Florence remained unbeaten after topping Loyola, 78-43, last Tuesday, and then topped Troy on Saturday. Florence jumped out and poured in 24 points in the first frame and then went on to win, 63-29. Levi Clagett had 16 points to lead the Falcons

Hamilton had a non-conference game against Missoula Sentinel. The Broncs broke lose in the second quarter and led by five at the break. But the Spartans came back on defense and held them to only six points in the third quarter. Sentinel went on to win, 58-48. Carter Kearns had 18 points including two treys and pulled down six rebounds.

Corvallis made the trip to Dillon where they took on the league-leading Dillon Beavers. The Blue Devils stayed with Dillon in the first half but couldn’t contain them in the second half and lost, 75-44. Chase Jessop had 19 points to pace Corvallis and Tylor Nixon added 10.
