Stevensville High School recently received a check for $1000 from the Lifespan Medical Group. The donation was the result of the sports physical campaign completed on July 22nd at the clinic. The entire clinic was shut down from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m., and the examinations were conducted by Dr. Crews, Dr. Charbonneau, and Dr. Haugo on a walk-in basis for students. The sports physicals were provided at a cost of just $20 per student, and all proceeds were donated back to the school.
Though the clinic lost revenue during this venture, the doctors and staff at Lifespan feel that the benefits of this program greatly outweigh the costs. “As a clinic, we believe strongly in community service,” said Clinic Coordinator Heidi Elam, “and this program is a great way for us to get involved and give back.” Elam also noted that the whole staff enjoys interacting with the students of Stevensville.
Stevensville High School students signed a thank you poster which was presented to the clinic by Activities Director Nate Fry. “The students, coaches, and advisors at Stevensville High School are extremely grateful for this generous donation,” stated Fry, “and we hope to get more students to participate next summer.” A date will be set in the spring for summer sports physicals at Lifespan for the 2016–17 school year, and a reminder will be sent to all families prior that date.
