The girls’ basketball season began this weekend. Class C schools were at Frenchtown while Hamilton and Stevensville hosted teams and Corvallis went to Columbia Falls.
Hamilton, the defending Class A state champion, was the only team to notch a win. Kloie Nye was the sixth man last year and will be the leader this year. The rest of the team had very little varsity experience last year but that doesn’t mean they aren’t going to be a team to be reckoned with. Nye led her team to a 43-22 win over Thompson Falls on Saturday. Baylie Duce and Caitlyn Gillespie each added eight points.

Hamilton – Tristy Searle 2, Breann Duce 3, Baylie Duce 8, Kloie Nye 16, Reilly Rostad 2, Rachel Ringer 2, Caitlyn Gillespie 8, Jordan Bauder 2.
Stevensville took on powerhouse Sentinel. The Spartans jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they topped Stevensville, 61-12. Mariah Hinson and Makayla Davids each had four points for Stevensville.
Corvallis fell to Columbia Falls, 57-24. The WildKats doubled up Corvallis in the first quarter and never allowed the Blue Devils back in the game. Corinne Sanderson had seven points to pace Corvallis and Taia Tully added six more.
Darby lost to Charlo, 49-32, in their opening game. The more experienced Lady Vikings took control of the game early on and didn’t allow Darby to get going on their game plan. Casey Ehmann had nine points to lead the Lady Tigers.

Darby took on Plains on Saturday. The Plains team scored 25 points in the first quarter and held Darby to only 23 total points in the game. They went on to win, 61-23. TeaAnna Rouse, Breanna Ehmann and Peyton Muir each had five points for the Lady Tigers.
The Lady Pirates had two games in Frenchtown at the Tip Off Tournament. They opened against St. Regis on Friday. St. Regis came from behind to win, 48-35. Krissy Kuettel had 11 points to pace the Lady Pirates.

Victor – Alyssa Hopper 6, Krissy Kuettel 11, Jamie Burdett 8, Haley Kay 8, Allred 2.
St. Regis – Cheesman 12, Hill 4, Tate 7, Hill 13, Sanford 12.
Victor’s second game was against Noxon. Noxon won, 33-23. Ashley Hopper had 10 points for Victor, Jamie Burdett added five and Hailey Kay had eight points.
