Zen Buddhism class
Zen Buddhism class takes place Wednesday, December 23 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. (second and fourth Wednesdays). Learn the fundamental teachings of the Buddha as taught by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh including exercises of mindful breathing, listening, walking, eating; the Eightfold Path with the basic teaching on Mindfulness; the Five Precepts for living in the world; and the Heart Sutra. Led by Jill Davies (642-3601). Free will offering accepted. The Center for Spiritual Living is located at 1720 N. First Street, Suite C in Selway Commons, north of Sears in Hamilton.
Lutheran Christmas events
Our Savior Lutheran Church, Stevensville, invites the community to receive the joyous message of God’s gift of the Christmas child, our Savior Jesus Christ. On Wednesday, December 23, the last Advent Vespers service begins at 7 p.m., following the 6 p.m. soup and sandwich fellowship dinner. Thursday’s Christmas Eve candlelight service with readings and songs begins at 8 p.m. Christmas Day’s festival service with the Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday. Our Savior, located at 184 Pine Hollow Road, is affiliated with the Lutheran Church––Missouri Synod. To find the church, head south from Stevensville on the Eastside Highway. Turn east at Pine Hollow, the next major intersection past Middle Burnt Fork Road. Cross the tracks and the canal, and the church will be on your left, marked by three crosses.

The United Methodist-American Baptist Church invites you to a service of Candles and Carols for Christmas Eve, on Thursday December 24 at 7 p.m. at 211 N. Sixth Street, Hamilton. Bring your relatives, friends and neighbors and join in the celebration of the night Jesus was born.

Stevi Christmas Bird Count
Bitterroot Audubon will sponsor the 51st annual Stevensville Christmas Bird Count on Saturday, December 26. Interested birders of any level are invited to meet at the Stevensville Ranger Station (88 Main Street) between 7:30 and 7:45 that morning to form small groups and go find birds in the field. Birders that live within the Count Circle (a 7.5 mile radius from the Ranger Station) can opt to count the birds at home. Last year’s count tallied 10,415 birds representing 87 species. The 2nd Annual Eagles Lodge New Year’s Eve Charity Ball sponsored by Farmers State Bank to benefit Emma’s House will be held Thursday, December 31 from 8 p.m. to Midnight at the Eagles Lodge, 125 N. 2nd St., Hamilton.
