For a while, it looked as if the Stevensville Yellowjackets had finally figured out their offense and who to go to for a score. But then Hamilton figured out their defense and put a stop to the ‘Jackets. Although Stevensville scored twice in the first quarter, that was all they could muster. Hamilton found their groove and went on to win, 45-12.
Bryce Torrey hit Dalton Bragg from 30 yards out for the first Yellowjacket touchdown. This was after the two teams traded interceptions. Neither converted on the interception on their next possession, the ‘Jackets got on the scoreboard. The Yellowjackets set up the next touchdown when Liam LeCoure made a big gain and put Stevensville into scoring position. John Diepstraten took the ball on about the 20-yard line and kept moving and moving until he made it into the end zone for the score. Neither conversion was good but the ‘Jackets had the lead.
But then Hamilton went to work. Alex Draper got the call for a short run and raced three yards for the first score. Bridger Bauder kicked the PAT. Then quarterback Bret Huxtable hit a 20-yard pass to Jonathan Ringer for another six points. Bauder again kicked the PAT. Bauder scored again on a four-yard plunge and then he caught a 15-yard pass. He also had four more PATs and a 32-yard field goal. Huxtable had a five-yard run and Draper broke loose for 70 yards and a TD at the end of the third quarter.
Corvallis fell to Butte Central but not without a fight. The Blue Devils had a one-point lead going into the second quarter but had trouble stopping the Maroon passing game. Wyatt Haldorson had a monster night with 284 yards on 34 carries. He scored on runs of 69 yards, five yards and one yard. Cayden Ayers kicked all three PATs for the Blue Devils.
Florence fell out of the ranks of the unbeaten with a 33-28 loss to Ronan on Friday night. The Chiefs had a 13-point lead going into the half but the Falcons came back and scored 22 points to close the gap. Marcus Zeiler caught two scoring passes from Braxton McCullough, one from two yards out and another from eight yards out. Shea Miller also caught a two-yard pass from McCullough. Bo Zeiler scored the first Falcon touchdown on an 11-yard reception. Miller caught a pass on one two-point conversion and Gabe Bennett kicked two PATs.
Victor rolled over Noxon, 66-0, in Noxon on Friday night. The Pirates notched 36 points in the first quarter alone. Riley Della Silva opened the onslaught with a 70-yard touchdown pass from Steven Scheffer. Shad Neville scored the two-point conversion. Then Jesse Pearson went to work. He caught a 33 yard pass for six, had a pick six from 15 yards out for another TD, and then three pass receptions from 40 yards, 35 yards (Scheffer run on the two point conversion) and 21 yards out. Colt Neville caught a pass from Scheffer for the two-point conversion. After a safety, Logan McKinley scored from three yards out. Della Silva caught one more scoring pass from 45 yards out. Shad Neville closed out the scoring with a 13-yard run.
Darby lost to Charlo, 64-6. Justin Horvath caught a 44-yard pass from Ky McCollaum for the only Tiger score.
