October 27, 2015 by Editor

Doyle and Lois left this earth together Sunday, October 18, 2015 in an automobile accident in Stanley, Idaho.
James Doyle Brown, 85, was born October 12, 1930 in Stevensville, Montana to Lafayette and Mina Doyle Brown. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona with his parents and siblings when he was a young boy, but left his heart in Montana.
Lois Charlene Higgins, 81, was born November 9, 1933 in Boardman, Ohio to Charles and Daisy Mundell Higgins. She moved to Arizona with her parents and her brother, Allan, as a young girl.
They met as teenagers, fell in love and were married November 10, 1950 at St. Agnes Church in Phoenix. Lois and Doyle were blessed with seven children. The family moved from Phoenix to Meridian, Idaho in 1971.
Doyle loved playing guitar, singing, and entertaining family at special events and around the campfire with his beautiful yodeling which was always the highlight of the family reunions. He also loved to spin tales of the old days and the old ways of his beloved Montana.
Lois came to love Montana as much as Doyle did. She had a very quick wit and a way with words. She was an excellent cook, avid reader, loved to knit, crochet and was an amazing seamstress. She also took pleasure in harvesting the bounty of the garden and canning, and won many ribbons at the Idaho State Fair for her canning, jams and jellies.
Doyle and Lois were very active in their church activities and mentored many. They also enjoyed camping and spent many years working for the Peregrine Fund transporting young peregrine falcon chicks to various hack sites in the Western U.S.
They were preceded in death by their parents; eldest son, James Dale Brown; youngest son, John Patrick Brown; and their grandson, Kyle Mark Etchechoury.
They are survived by their children: David (Janice Berndt) Brown, Dianne Bocek, Carolyn Brown, Theresa (Dan) Endecott and Paul Brown; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws; many friends; and their beloved dog, Angel. Doyle is survived by two sisters: Doreen Waits of Phoenix, Arizona and Louise Ziegler of Paradise Valley, Arizona.

A visitation for family and friends was held on October 26th at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 6300 N. Meridian Road, Meridian, Idaho followed by a Vigil Service. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on October 27th also at Holy Apostles Catholic Church. Graveside services were held at Meridian Cemetery. Remembrances may be left for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com. Condolences may be sent to the family at P.O. Box 324, Meridian, Idaho 83680. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian.
Lois and Doyle’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to those in Custer County, Idaho for their kindness, compassion, prayers and assistance.
