
The Corvallis boys’ soccer team continued their success on the pitch with wins over Hamilton and Stevensville. The Blue Devils topped Hamilton, 5-0, and then topped Stevensville, 8-0. They are at the top of the South conference with a record of 10-1.
Avery Walden put the Blue Devils on the board at 23 minutes in their match against Hamilton with an unassisted goal. The two teams battled the rest of the half without a score. However the adjustments made at the half by Corvallis paid off. Juan Pablo Juarez took an Emmett Semple assist in for a goal at 56 minutes. Juarez then found Cayden Ayers who scored at 68 minutes. Five minutes later, Ayers scored again off a Semple assist. The final Blue Devil goal was by Rutger Klein who took an assist from Ayers in for the score. Corvallis took 16 shots on goal while Hamilton had three. Justin Catanach of Corvallis had one salve. Garrett Passey of Hamilton had nine saves.
Corvallis started early and never stopped against Stevensville. The Blue Devils scored first at seven minutes when Juarez booted the goal off an assist from Klein. The next two goals were from Ayers at 12 and 17 minutes. Semple had the assist on both goals. Juarez and Klein teamed up for another goal at 25 minutes. After the break, Klein immediately went to the net with a goal at 41 minutes. Semple scored at 48 minutes off a Klein assist and again at 51 minutes off an Ayers assist. Catanach scored the final goal on a penalty kick. Corvallis took 28 shots on goal. Catanach had seven saves. Stevensville took nine shots on goal and Tristin Pearson had 11 saves. With the win, Corvallis secured the conference championship.
Stevensville held off Frenchtown, 4-2, to win. The Yellowjackets now have a record of 4 wins and 4 losses. Because of the smoke early in the season, they did not play two games early in the season. Stevensville scored first when Chris Brownlee took a Nathan McFadden assist in for the goal at 16 minutes. Brownlee scored again at 38 minutes off a Jake Finley assist. At 54 minutes, Finley scored on a Colton Belcourt assist. The final ‘Jacket goal was a Belcourt to Quade Renstrom pass for the goal at 55 minutes. Frenchtown scored at 60 and 65 minutes. Stevensville took 19 shots on goal and so did Frenchtown. Pearson had eight saves for Stevi. Frenchtown had seven saves.
The Corvallis girls are gaining confidence and it’s beginning to show. The Blue Devils defeated Stevensville, 6-0, on Saturday. They took 22 shots while limiting Stevensville to only nine shots on goal. Corinne Sanderson scored first for the Blue Devils at three minutes off a Hailey Mason assist. The duo scored again just five minutes later. Sanderson notched three more goals, at 35 minutes with another assist from Mason, and then unassisted goals at 48 and 54 minutes. Zena Smith also scored for Corvallis off a Kayla Fields assist. Evie Tiplady had four saves for Stevensville. Kira Doyle had eight saves for Corvallis.
Hamilton edged past Corvallis, 2-0, on Thursday. Kendal Gordon took an Elise Striebel pass and booted it in for the first goal at 37 minutes. The two switched and Striebel scored on an assist from Gordon at 79 minutes. Corvallis took eight shots on goal while Hamilton had 15. Doyle had six saves for Corvallis while Larami Schara had five saves for Hamilton. Hamilton improved their record to 9-1.
Stevensville lost to Frenchtown, 4-2. Allie Emery scored at 59 minutes for the Yellowjackets. Megan Pendergast scored with four minutes remaining for the other goal. Tiplady had 13 saves for Stevensville.
