Thanks for osprey rescue

September 2, 2015 by Guest Post

I would like to thank the Ravalli County Electric Cooperative and especially Levi Dunn and Todd Irwin for their quick response and exceptional job in rescuing the young osprey three weeks ago. This is the second fledgling osprey that RCEC personnel have rescued from certain death from being tangled in baling twine at the nest at the junction of Meridian Road and West Bell Crossing Road. Both rescued youngsters were treated and released into their parents’ care. This time, the daddy osprey was carrying a fish when I took the youngster back to the nest. Hopefully, he gave it to the fledgling, which was not badly hurt and could fly just fine.
A special thank you to everyone at RCEC for the superb job they did in restoring electricity to their customers, including us, after the big wind storm. You all are amazing. Thank you so much for what you do.
In addition, a huge thank you to Michael Howell for the excellent article he wrote in last week’s Bitterroot Star on a recently published study by my colleagues and I concerning birth defects and health issues in wildlife and humans (mainly newborns). Here is the link to the
study: http://www.esciencecentral.org/journals/the-high-cost-of-pesticides-human-and-animal-diseases-2375-446X-1000132.php?aid=56471
Anyone who cares about newborn children and the young of other animals can at least look at the photos and graphs and hopefully share the study with others. Thank you in advance for your concern for the young (and all other ages).
