The Stevensville Yellowjackets held off the Hamilton Broncs for a 2-1 win on Thursday. Stevensville scored at 14 minutes when Jake Finley sent the ball to Quade Renstrom for the score. The ‘Jackets held onto the lead for the rest of the half. Eleven minutes into the second half, Brandon Moore tied the game with a goal for Hamilton. Just six minutes later, Renstrom got the keeper out of position and scored again for Stevensville. Colton Belcourt had the assist. Hamilton kept the pressure on the Stevensville goal for most of the second half but Stevensville held them off. Hamilton took 20 shots on goal while Stevensville took 16 shots. Hamilton’s James Bess had 12 saves while Tristan Pearson had 18 saves for Stevensville.
Corvallis blanked Loyola, 6-0. Grant Martin scored first for Corvallis off an Emmet Semple assist at 13 minutes. Then Semple scored off a Rutger Klein assist at 41 minutes. After the break, Cayden Ayers took a pass from Ives Fershee and scored at 46 minutes. Ayers scored on a penalty kick and then Semple took the assist from Klein and converted at 65 minutes. The final goal was by Klein off a Brennan Williams assist. Corvallis took 26 shots on goal while Loyola only shot nine times. Justin Catanach had five saves for Corvallis who improved to 7-1.
Corvallis stopped Stevensville, 4-0, on Saturday in more Class A action. Ayers had goals at five minutes, 39 minutes and 71 minutes on assists from Semple, Klein and Drew Schlimgen. Klein scored at 29 minutes also. Stevensville took just nine shots on goal and Pearson had nine saves. Corvallis took 24 shots and Catanach had five saves.
