The Corvallis Blue Devils showed they are serious about defending their state title over the weekend with decisive wins over Hamilton and Polson. The Blue Devils topped Hamilton, 6-0, on Thursday. Cayden Ayers scored twice and had two assists. Juan Pablo Juarez also scored twice, once off an assist from Avery Walden and again with an assist from Ayers. Emmet Semple notched two goals as well, one from an Ayers assist and one from a Kolton Mahan assist. Justin Catanach had six saves for the Blue Devils. Hamiton’s Jarrett Passey had 12 saves.
Corvallis topped Polson, 3-0, on Saturday. Ayers took a Rutger Klein assist in for the score at nine minutes. Juarez scored 10 minutes later off a Ladd Grenfell assist, and Semple scored four minutes later off an Avery Walden assist. Corvallis had 24 shots on goal compared to Polson’s 11 shots. Catanach had six saves for the Blue Devils.
Hamilton lost to Loyola, 4-1. Brandon Moore had the lone Bronc goal. Daniel Schlender had four saves for Hamilton.
Stevensville scored three goals in the first half after Frenchtown scored the first goal. Quade Renstrom converted on a penalty kick. He was followed by Colton Belcourt and Jake Finley off a Chris Brownlee assist. Belcourt and Finley scored again in the final 10 minutes of the match. Tristan Pearson had four saves for the ‘Jackets.
