ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT AND FINDING OF NO SIGNIFICANT IMPACT
RUNWAY EXTENSION, WIDENING AND IMPROVEMENTS
STEVENSVILLE AIRPORT – TOWN OF STEVENSVILLE, MONTANA
Interested parties are hereby notified that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the following major development items at the Stevensville Airport for the Town of Stevensville, Montana:
• Widen Runway 12-30 by 15-feet for a total width of 75’;
• Extend Runway-12 by 1,000-feet for a total runway length of 4,800’;
• Reconstruct existing 60’ x 3,800’ pavement section for full length Runway 12-30;
• Re-grade existing ground obstructions within the Runway Safety Area and Object Free Area;
• Replace the existing airfield electrical system;
• Replace the existing Medium Intensity Runway Lights;
• Replace the existing Runway-12 Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI);
• Install a new PAPI for Runway-30;
• Install a new Automated Weather Observation System;
• Extend the partial length parallel Taxiway-A to the new end of Runway-12;
• Install new taxiway edge lighting system.
• Modify existing RNAV (GPS)-A procedure to reflect new runway end coordinates.
The EA has been prepared in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. The purpose of the EA and FONSI is to assess the effects on the human and natural environment from the construction of the runway extension. The EA evaluated the “No Action” alternative for the project noted above.
The FONSI is the FAA’s finding that the proposed action will not have a significant effect on the human and natural environment from the proposed project.
The Final EA is now available for public review at the following locations: North Valley Public Library (208 Main Street, Stevensville, MT 59870), Stevensville Town Hall (206 Buck Street, Stevensville, MT 59870) and at the office of Morrison-Maierle, Inc. (3011 Palmer Street, Missoula, MT 59808 during business hours from September 2, 2015 through September 16, 2015.
