Hamilton First Friday
Downtown Hamilton will celebrate “Independents” on Friday evening, July 3, in a salute to locally-owned, independent businesses. Hamilton Mayor Jerry Steele has proclaimed July 1-7 as “Independents Week,” recognizing the contributions these businesses make to the community, and Friday evening is an opportunity to savor what they offer.
Doing business with locally-owned independents keeps more money in the community than shopping at chains or franchises, and contributes to Hamilton’s economic health. More than that, though, they give Hamilton its own unique flavor, expressing the tastes of their owners and reflecting the values of this community.
Some smaller businesses will not be open extended Friday hours, or on Saturday, the Fourth of July, as their owners take a holiday break, but First Friday downtown will still offer unique shopping and dining, and beverages for all tastes. Live music is always part of the scene, and some stores offer refreshments.
