Commissioners object that they cannot object!

June 9, 2015 by Guest Post

What happened? Ravalli County Commissioners object, that they no longer have standing, in the USFS Final Environmental Impact Study (FEIS) leading up to new, two-season maps showing where motorized travel is, and is not, allowed.
What’s going on? Five years to comment on USFS plans for different means of travel in and near Wilderness. County Commissioners forget to make comment, and so forfeit standing in the ongoing process, and cannot object, say if a grievous FEIS problem was made public. If Commissioners had not shirked and made comment, local groups would now have more ongoing leverage to partner with Ravalli County.
Maybe the Commissioners of Ravalli County are overworked. Perhaps time for Commissioners to hire and task a calendar coordinator.
• No more forgetting to enter into a comment process!
• No more forgetting to vote to enable a Local Government Study Commission!
• No more forgetting to tell people of coming new system and law to permit building in floodplains!
Right, if the Commissioners are too busy to coordinate, they should jolly well hire a Calendar Coordinator NOW. Just a short term Coordinator, until next election when a new candidate for Commissioner may be capable of coordinating with the calendar.
Two of the five Commissioner positions are up for election in 2016.
Maybe people will elect a Commissioner who finally will report back to the people why the dickens Ravalli County needs two extra Commissioners!
Maybe local business will promote a Commissioner candidate with broad business experience. A Commissioner capable of one third of the work, in a three commissioner system.
Perhaps people in Hamilton will tire of more taxation with less representation, and finally seek a Commissioner candidate ready to be a worker for Hamilton.
Perhaps voters will turn against Commissioner candidates beholden to out of state groups enjoying representation without taxation in Ravalli County, USA.
What would really upset the apple cart, would be for the Public to promote workers in a run for County Commissioner.
We’ve already seen too many shirkers posturing as Judges.
