Pruning class
A class on Ornamental Pruning will be held Wednesday, June 17 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Daly Mansion. This is the last in the MSU-Extension series of perennial landscaping classes. The class will be taught by local master arborist Sylvia McNeil and her husband David. Discussion will focus on pruning woody ornamentals to promote healthy and vigorous plants. History lecture
A free lecture on “Montana 1864” with Ken Egan will be held on Thursday, June 18 at 6 p.m. at the Ravalli County Museum. Sidney Edgerton, Mary Ronan, Pretty Shield, Crazy Horse, Granville and Awbonnie Stuart – these are just some of the people of Montana in 1864. Journey back to the year of Montana’s founding in this lively presentation on various characters and events that shaped the state from its beginnings. Back Country Horsemen
Bitter Root Back Country Horsemen begin the first in their series of outdoor summer meetings on Thursday, June 18, at Crazy Creek Horse Camp, located south of Darby on Hwy 93. To get there go 1.7 miles south past the Rocky Knob Restaurant, turn right on Medicine Springs Road (located directly across from Spring Gulch Campground). Follow Medicine Springs Road to the turnoff on your left to Crazy Creek Campground. Potluck dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. and the general meeting starts at 7:00. Bring a chair and a beverage along with your potluck dish. Rebecca Mowry, FWP wildlife biologist, will report on the status of big game in the Bitterroot. Museum rummage sale
The Stevensville Historical Museum Annual Rummage Sale will be held during Stevensville Western Heritage Days, June 19 & 20 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The rummage sale will be held at the Stevensville Museum’s lawn at 517 Main St., Stevensville. Donations of clean used rummage-sale items are needed for this fundraiser. To arrange for the donation of rummage sale items please call 777-3201 or 777-5126. Donated items can also be delivered to the Stevensville Museum on Thursday, June 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This fund-raiser has traditionally been one of the most successful ways to raise funds to support the Museum’s goals of collecting and preserving the history of Stevensville and the surrounding Bitterroot Valley.
North Valley Pachyderm Club
The North Valley Pachyderm Club will meet Friday, June 19 at 12 noon at The Frontier Café, Hwy 93 in Stevensville. Guest speakers will be Dr. Kate Vandemoer and Christopher Chavasse who will talk about where we go from here regarding the CSKT Water Compact that was approved by the Montana Legislature. The North Valley Pachyderm Club is an educational arm of the Republican Party. All are welcome.

Bitterroot Dancers, Inc. is sponsoring a recorded music dance on Friday, June 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton City Hall/Bedford Building. $5 entry. All are welcome.
Saturday, June 20
Methodist yard sale
Stevensville United Methodist Church will hold its annual yard sale on Saturday, June 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church’s Fellowship Hall and parking lot. It is a joint effort of both the UM Women’s and UM Men’s organizations to raise funds to support missionary projects of local, district and international ministries to our needy world of today. If you would like to donate items to the sale, bring your items to the church at the corner of 3rd Street and College Avenue. If you have working items too large to deliver, and need to arrange a pick-up of the item, call 531-4588. Sales will start at 9 a.m.; no early sales.
Science Saturday
Science Saturday will be held Saturday, June 20 at 10 a.m. at the Ravalli County Museum, 205 Bedford, Hamilton. Fractals will be the topic. Fractals are everywhere! Learn about these self similar patterns that are found in trees, ferns, and even our bodies. Create your own fractal and take it home. Our Savior Lutheran Church activities
Enjoy Stevensville’s Heritage Days this Saturday, and especially the parade at 10 AM! When you get thirsty, watch for the people of Our Savior Lutheran Church giving free bottled water to the parched. Later on, visit Our Savior’s booth for more water, friendly conversation and smiles. Our Savior is collecting food and monetary donations for Pantry Partners, Stevensville’s food pantry. This is a Helping Hands project sponsored by Thrivent Financial, in service to the community of Stevensville. Donations can also be made at Pantry Partners on Middle Burnt Fork, of course. This is just a friendly reminder that now that kids are out of school, families have to fund ten more meals per week per child. Summer can be a hungrier time than winter. If you can help your neighbors through a donation to Pantry Partners, please do—anytime, anywhere you can.
Sons of Norway
Bitterrootdalen Lodge, Sons of Norway, and the Tired Iron Antique Tractor Club will celebrate the longest day of the year on Saturday, June 20 at 6 p.m. at Summerdale Park, on Quast Lane, northeast of Corvallis. It is a chance to enjoy good food and visit with friends, as people have done for thousands of years during the summer solstice. In Scandinavia, the sun is up all night beyond the Arctic Circle and people gather around bonfires along beaches, to enjoy a feast and good company. The Lodge will provide meat and folks can bring their own meat if they wish, there are barbeque grills and picnic tables. Golden Age Father’s Day event
Treat Dad to something different this year! On Sunday, June 21 the Hamilton Golden Age Club volunteers will serve a pulled pork buffet with salads, dessert and coffee. Dinner will be served at 1 p.m. Dancing will follow dinner at about 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Dance music will be by “The Jammers,” a group of local musicians. Admission for the dinner-dance is $6.00 per person. Reservations are helpful for food preparation. Call Bob at 363-0142 to be assured of a dinner. The Stevensville United Methodist Church is hosting a Vacation Bible Camp the week of June 22 to June 26. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Campers will spend each fun filled day with the staff from Twinlow Camp doing crafts, playing games, singing and hearing bible stories. A nutritious lunches and snacks will be provided for campers. A free class entitled “Introduction to Small Business Planning” will be presented Tuesday, June 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the RCEDA Conference Room, 274 Old Corvallis Road, Hamilton. Arguably every business needs a business plan, but who has time? This workshop is designed to get you over the hurdle of starting on the critical, ongoing planning that is essential to business success, with or without the creation of a formal document. There will also be a short presentation on how to get some helpful market size information from free government websites.
