Softball Wrap-up

Hamilton ran up against a tough Polson team on Saturday morning at the Class A state softball tournament and saw their hopes dashed for a trophy. Polson was down by five runs in the sixth inning but came back to win, 8-7. Sky Lopez began as the Bronc pitcher but she was relieved by Hailey Hudgins in the sixth inning. Taylor Goligoski ended her high school career with a double and three RBIs. Tayler Reynolds and Rachael Ringer also had doubles.
Hamilton began their tournament play with a resounding win over Miles City, 21-7. Lopez was the winning pitcher. Caitlin Dillon had a triple and an RBI. Lauren Dolcater knocked in four runners and her twin, Lacey, had two RBIs, as did Reynolds. McKayl Rothie, Goligoski, Kloie Nye, and Shaylan Mohn each had one RBI.
Hamilton then went up against Belgrade but the Panthers were too much for the Lady Broncs. Belgrade won, 11-2. Goligoski had two doubles and an RBI. After that game, Hamilton then went on to play a foe they know very well, Butte Central. Hudgins was in the pitcher’s circle for four innings before Lopez came in to take the 9-5 win. Mohn knocked a triple and two RBIs. Goligoski again hit a double and had an RBI. Lacey Dolcater had a double and an RBI. Reynolds also had a double.
Florence also won two games and lost two at the Class B state tournament. Florence opened against Glasgow and won, 12-1. Megan Byrne was the winning pitcher and Chloe Arthur was the catcher. Arthur knocked a double and had two RBIs. Byrne also had two RBIs and was 2-for-2 at bat.
Florence then played Mission and lost, 13-7. Sarah Schurg came in to relieve Byrne in the third inning and took the loss. Schurg had a double and two RBIs. Josie McCann went 1-for-4 and also had an RBI. The Lady Falcons then took on Great Falls Central and defeated them, 11-7. Byrne had the win. Micayla Cole went 2-for-4 and had a double and three RBIs. Ronan put an end to Florence’s run with a 9-5 win over the Lady Falcons.
