The Lady Broncs will be the No. 1 seed from the Southwest A conference even though they didn’t play a championship game. The championship game wasn’t held because of the rain and weather. Hamilton had defeated Butte Central in the undefeated game on Friday and by virtue of that, was named the champion. Butte Central will be the No. 2 seed and Anaconda, after defeating Stevensville, will advance as the No. 3 seed.
Hamilton had a first round bye and then played Anaconda, after Anaconda defeated Corvallis. The Lady Broncs rolled over Anaconda, 17-3. Sky Lopez was the winning pitcher. Shaylan Mohn had a home run and three RBIs. Lauren Dolcater had three RBIs and a double. Lacy Dolcater, Caitlin Dillon and Rachael Ringer each had RBIs for Hamilton.
In the undefeated game against Butte Central, Hamilton topped the Maroons, 9-8. Lopez was again the pitcher. Kloie Nye went 2-for-2 with a home run and an RBI. Ringer also had a home run. She was 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Mohn finished with two doubles and an RBI. She was 2-for-3 at bat. Taylor Goligoski and Tayler Reynolds each had RBIs.
The state tournament will begin in Anaconda on Thursday. Hamilton will play the winner of the Havre/Miles City game at 5pm on Thursday.
Although Stevensville didn’t advance, they had a good tournament. The Lady Yellowjackets opened against Dillon and won, 16-5. Carly Vercruyssen took the win with Megan Finley catching. Vercruyssen batted 2-for-3. Jenna Lockman had two doubles and was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Finley and Callie Lendman also had doubles. Finley also knocked a triple. She was 4-for-4 at bat and had an RBI. Cammie Beller went 2-for-4 and finished with four RBIs.
The Lady ‘Jackets lost to Butte Central, 10-0. They then played Corvallis in loser out action. Stevensville won, 8-3. Vercruyssen, in her final high school game, took the win. Beller finished out her career with a double, three RBIs, and was 3-for-4 at bat. Lendman and Sam Hambrick each had an RBI. Hambrick went 3-for-4. Corvallis’ Hannah Brown had an RBI and Kambrey Powell had a triple.
Florence also advanced to the state tournament with a third place finish. The three time defending state champions will begin their quest for a fourth straight title by playing Glasgow at 4pm in Belgrade.
Florence defeated Plains, 9-8, for the chance to advance. Sarah Schurg was the pitcher for Florence. She also had two RBIs. After losing to Mission/Arlee/Charlo, 8-5, in the undefeated game, the Lady Falcons had to rally back through the consolation bracket. They defeated Deer Lodge, 12-2, in five innings. Josie McCann went 4-for-4 and had three RBIs to lead the Lady Falcons. Florence began the tournament against Plains and defeated them, 13-2 in that game.
