The Corvallis boys and the Hamilton girls came away with titles at the Wayne Estes Memorial Meet in Anaconda over the weekend. The Corvallis boys put up 172 points to capture first. Hamilton was second with 113 points. They were followed by Dillon (81) and Stevensville in fourth with 45 points. There were twelve teams competing.
Corvallis ruled the throwing events, claiming wins in all three events. Jesse Sims threw the shot put 49’2” for that win. Jayce Gilder heaved the discus 142’, and Tyler Olson went 191’2 for that win. Taylor Sylvester won the 200 with a time of 22.12. He was second in the 110 hurdles. Ronald Venema won the 3,200. He was fourth in the 1,600. Cole Wohltman took the high jump with a leap of 5’8”.
Hamilton’s Kyle Crossman won the 100 with a time of 11.18. Karill Apedaile won the 800 with 52.37. The 400-relay team won with a time of 44.97, edging out Corvallis by 3/100ths of a second. The Bronc 1,600 relay team won with a time of 3:44.18. Bridger Bauder, Carter Kearns, Ky Burch and Wyatt Luedecke were on that team. Freshman Carter Kearns won the triple jump with an effort of 39’10”.
Stevensville’s Daniel Pendergast won the 300 hurdles with a time of 40.74. He was fourth in the 100, and fifth in the 200.
The Hamilton girls scored 149 points to win the team scoring. They were followed by Corvallis with 124.5 points. Stevensville had seven points.
Lyric DeVries won the 800 with a time of 2:29.06. Kaitlyn Stromberg won the 3,200 with a time of 12:19.57. Teammate Jacie Schmalz was right behind with 12:22.57. Taylor Bess won the long jump with 16’6”, and Annika Moore was second with 16’4”. Reilly Rostad was third with 15’8”. Moore won the triple jump with 35’. Rostad was second with 34’1” and Briann Duce and Baylie Duce were third and fourth with 33’3 and 32’1 respectively.
Corvallis’ Jane Booth won the high jump with the bar at 5’2”. She also won the discus with a throw of 120’. Katelyn Frost won the pole vault by three feet with a vault of 11’6”. Amelia Gardner won the 1,600 with a time of 5:42.11.

Florence, Darby and Victor were at the Kim Haines Memorial meet in Missoula where 18 teams competed. Darby finished 8th behind Joe Caicedo’s efforts. Caicedo won the javelin with the fourth longest throw in the state this year, 192’6”. He was fifth in the discus with 118’, fifth in the 200 with 23.60 and fifth in the shot put with 40’5”. Evan Duggan was second in the 3,200 with a time of 10:50.81 and sixth in the 1,600 with 4:55.01. John Beckers was third in the javelin with 152’5”.
The Darby girls placed third behind Ronan and Seeley-Swan. Keely Ehmann was a triple winner, taking first in the 100 (13.22), 200 (26.42) and 400 (59.74). Darby was second in the 400 relay behind Arlee and second in the 1,600 relay behind Seeley-Swan. Lily Lang finished second in the 800 and third in the 1,600. Seanna Abrahamsen was fourth in the 800 and sixth in the 1,600. Payton Muir was sixth in the 300 hurdles. Tori Johnston was fourth in the long jump and fifth in the 200. Maya Diekmann tied for fifth in the high jump.
Florence’s Ally Rust was sixth in the long jump and fourth in the 300 hurdles. Danika Greer was sixth in the 800. Autumn Round was fourth in the 400. Jada Hunsucker took sixth in the javelin. On the boys’ side, Caden Venters took was second in the javelin with a throw of 161’7”.
Victor’s Blake Bowen took sixth in the 110 hurdles for the boys. Carlyjean Conley won the discus with a throw of 105’7”. Ali Elliot was fifth in the javelin.
