May 28, 1932 – November 17, 2014
Marvel Dolores Bauman, passed peacefully into the presence of Jesus on November 17th with her husband of 60 years by her side.
Marvel was born in Minot, North Dakota to Victor and Dorothea Andersen. Her family moved briefly to Westchester, New York until her father’s death, at which time they moved to Conrad, MT. Marvel graduated from Conrad High School in 1950, where she had been the editor of Pep, the high school newspaper, and captain of the tumbling team.
She attended Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Missouri where she met Harold Bauman of Deer Lodge, MT. They graduated in 1954 from CBI, and were married in Conrad in June of that year.
Together, they served as pastors for churches located in Montana and Sandusky, Ohio. Homesick for Montana, they returned and Marvel worked for the United States Forest Service in Missoula until her retirement.
She was active in church ministries, with Children’s Church and taught Sunday School classes. She loved her family, telling jokes, playing games with friends and family and spending time at Glacier Bible Camp in Hungry Horse, MT. She especially loved going to camp after Harold built a cabin on church property for their stay.
Marvel was a gift giver. She enjoyed sending cards for special occasions and for encouragement. She often made Christmas boxes with home baked goodies and small gifts for shut-ins. She also loved sharing the message of the gospel and never failed to invite people she came in contact with to trust in Jesus.
She was an excellent cook and baker and she and Harold were a great team when it came to putting up produce from Harold’s garden, or canning produce they picked or purchased during harvest. Her family will remember how hard she worked to bake or make every person’s favorite for family holidays. She made the best apple pie.
Her parents, and her brothers, Carl Andersen, and Peder Andersen preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Harold Bauman, brother, James Andersen (Mardonna) of Battle Ground, WA, daughters, Becky Waldenberg (Terry) of Great Falls, MT, Kathye Tangeman (Cort) of Campbellsport, WI, and son, Steve Bauman of Lolo, MT, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life was held at Light of the Valley Church, 103 N. Kootenai Creek Road, Stevensville, MT on Tuesday, November 25, 2014. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.whitesittfuneralhome.com.
