Gene Mim Mack and Robbie Springs, owners of the Stevensville Hotel, have issued a challenge to other business owners to donate to the Bear Mountain Playground project.
The couple has signed a letter in support of the project and explaining that they will match the donation of $500 they made this week with $500 additional when the first business pledges $1000.
“We are excited about a community project that is taking place in our own Lewis and Clark Park in Stevensville,” states the letter “Through a grassroots effort, the citizens of Stevensville are joining hands to provide a state-of-the-art playground not only for the children of Stevensville, but for children throughout the area. What makes this project unique is that the playground is designed by the children, and the entire community will help with the fundraising and supply the labor to build the playground in only five days during September of 2015.
“The overall cost for the playground is $195,000. We at the Stevensville Hotel feel that this is a worthy project that should be supported, especially by those in our community. A community project such as Bear Mountain Playground is a once in a lifetime investment that will produce an outstanding place where our children can grow and play. Bear Mountain Playground offers a tangible model for community involvement, service, cooperation and leadership that will leave a lasting impact on our community.
“In addition, playgrounds are proven tourist attractions. In a State such as Montana, where tourism is one of the greatest economic drivers, creating a family friendly space central to the downtown area will invite seasonal visitors to the community and lead to additional dollars being spent at local businesses and establishments.
“We want to invite you to join with us in supporting this project by matching our $500 tax-deductible donation. We have been told that there will be a permanent plaque at the playground entrance to recognize donations.
“When the first business or individual pledges $1000 to the playground, we will double our contribution to match the $1000!”
