March 29, 1940 – September 3, 2014
Our beloved husband, father, son and brother, Jim went to be with the Lord on Sept 3rd. He died peacefully with his loving family and friends surrounding him. Jim fought a courageous battle with Parkinson. He never lost his sense of humor or telling funny stories!
Jim was born in Spokane, WA to Paul and Hetty Flint on March 29. He moved to Great Falls at the age of 9 and then to Missoula at the age of 13. Jim had a fun and full life spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Jim found and married the love of his life, Linda Y. Jacobsen, on April 9, 1993. They enjoyed 22 years of wedded bliss filled with laughter, dancing, singing, camping and being part of our church family. Jim became a Catholic and a 3rd degree Knight.
Jim and Linda also belonged to the Parkinson group the “Movers & Shakers”. Jim and Linda had a home business “J & L Express” which they enjoyed for 17 years. They had fun putting loads together throughout the United States and Canada. They developed friends all around the country.
Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, making salsa, bowling, singing and playing his guitar. He was a big Griz and Mariners fan! Jim had a beautiful singing voice and started his own band, the “Missoula Outlaws”. When he was in the Army in Bakersfield, CA, he actually got to jam with Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens and Waylon Jennings before they were famous. Jim also got to be part of the movie “Timberjack” filmed in Montana, where he met Sterling Hayden in 1958.
Jim worked for 20 years in the mills as a millwright, Jim went to school and got an accounting degree and also worked at Davis Transport for seven years.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Hetty, daughter Paula Ann, son Allen Lee Jacobsen and brothers Rod and Walley. Jim is survived by his soulmate and loving wife Linda; his sons Dean, Danny and James Flint and Patrick and Anthony Jacobsen; his daughters-in-law Mary, Muir, April and Kelly; all his precious grandchildren: Sara, D.J., Kashala, Shakala, Koalten, Dan, Kaitie, Allen, Carissa, Terren, Tristian and Michelle.
