
Blue Devils pound Pirates
The Corvallis Blue Devils jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a non-conference match on Friday night. Corvallis won, 34-14. Jayce Gilder let the charge for Corvallis with 299 yards. Gilder passed to Danner Miller for a 41-yard opening touchdown. Gilder also connected with Taylor Sylvester from 10 yards out in the second quarter. Gilder had two touchdown runs, one of 21 yards and a two-yard plunge. Gunnar Fairbrother finished the scoring for Corvallis with a four-yard run. Sam Burdette kicked four of five PATs.
Hamilton ran over Libby, 42-6, in another non-conference game. After only leading by one touchdown in the first quarter, quarterback the Bronc offense got going. Karill Apendaile caught a 15-yard pass from Bret Huxtable. Bridger Bauder was Huxtable’s next target, this time from 24 yards out. Alex Draper picked up his second touchdown of the night (he scored on a 17-yard run in the first quarter). This time Draper ran in from 22-yards out. Bauder scored twice more in the third quarter. The freshman raced in from 10 yards out and then caught a 31-yard pass from Huxtable for the final TD. Apendaile kicked all six PATs.
Stevensville lost to Frenchtown, 21-7. Bo Zeiler caught a 31-yard pass from Bryce Torrey for the lone Yellowjacket touchdown. Daniel Pendergast kicked the PAT.
Darby won a close game over powerhouse Superior, 52-50, in Darby on Friday night. Senior Joe Caicedo was the driving force behind the Tiger victory. He found the end zone seven times, including two fumble recoveries and touchdowns. Caicedo scored on runs of two yards, one yard, 12 yards, 32 yards, and 37 yards. He had a two yard score off a fumble recovery and another 68 yard scoring romp off a fumble. Justin Horvath raced 19yards for a touchdown also. Rope Rennaker caught a pass on a two-point conversion on the first touchdown and Kye McCollaum caught a pass for two points on Horvath’s touchdown.
Victor fell to Charlo, 48-6. Jesse Pearson scored the only Pirate touchdown on a three-yard run.
Florence fell to Bigfork, 52-8. Jace Pancake had a 32-yard scoring run at the end of the third quarter. Braxton McCullough hit Daniel Parson for the two-point conversion.
