Fair Parade signups
Sign-ups for the Ravalli County Fair Parade are being taken at the chamber office. The Ravalli County Fair theme this year is “Buckles, Boots & Rodeo Chutes”. Presidents of the 2014 Leadership Bitterroot class are Chris Edwards and Henry Silvero Jr. Leadership Bitterroot class will be putting on the Fair Parade for 2014. The parade will take place on Wednesday, August 27, at 10 a.m. You must register your entry and pick up your number at the Chamber office at 105 East Main. Chamber office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information contact Pat at 363-2400.

Parks and Recreation Board
Montana State Parks & Recreation Board will meet on Wednesday, August 20 at 10:15 a.m. at Travelers’ Rest State Park Visitor Center in Lolo. The public is invited to attend. Public comments can be made at 11:10 a.m. The Board will be reviewing and discussing; Commercial Use Rule, State Parks User Fees, Budget and Legislation, Montana Snowmobile Program Grants, Major Maintenance Projects and more. The Board will also hold a work session on Wednesday August 20 starting at 8:30am. Sleeping Child Hot Springs for All
A working board meeting of Sleeping Child Hot Springs for All will be Wednesday, August 20 at 6:30 p.m. at 215 Marcus Street in Hamilton (the former Place to Ponder Bakery and Cafe behind the Iron Horse Gym & Bitterroot Brewery. Laughter Yoga
The Center for Spiritual Living hosts Laughter Yoga with Certified Laughter Yoga Leader Jacqueline Locke of Wholly Joy on Wednesday, August 20 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Hearty group laughter has profound short- and long-terms effects on our mind and body: reduce stress, lower blood pressure, increase feel-good hormones, aerobic benefits, strengthen immune system, and have fun! RASS training
Western MT Addiction Services is holding a Responsible Alcohol Sales and Service training on Thursday, August 21 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Darby Community Public Library at 101 S Marshall in Darby. The cost of the training is $15 (cash only) for materials. The “Let’s Control It” course teaches participants to recognize and prevent intoxication in others as well as underage service prevention. Program participants are trained by certified instructors to detect the signs of intoxication and intervene effectively to prevent any alcohol-related problems. The “Let’s Control It” curriculum is approved by the MT Dept of Revenue and participants will receive a certificate of completion good for three years to sell and serve open and closed container alcohol. Back Country Horsemen
Bitter Root Back Country Horsemen host their last outdoor meeting of the summer on Thursday, August 21, at the Sam Billings Memorial Campground. To get there from Darby, head south on Highway 93 for 4.3 miles. Turn right onto West Fork Rd. Travel 13.2 miles and turn right onto Sam Billings Rd. (FS 5731). Travel 0.8 mile to the campground. Potluck dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. and the general meeting begins at 7:00. Please bring a chair and your own beverage. Members who have been working on the new Boulder Creek Horse Camp will give an update on their progress. August trail projects and the fair fundraiser will also be discussed. Stevensville Playhouse auditions
Auditions for adult roles for “Oliver” will be held August 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Stevensville Playhouse. The Stevensville Playhouse is located at 319 Main Street, Stevensville. Mature driving course
Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital, located at 1200 Westwood Drive in Hamilton, will host an all new Smart Driver Course (formerly ‘55 Alive) on Friday, August 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. While this new safe driving strategies class is designed for drivers age 50 and over, all drivers are welcome. The new program now features laws and updates specific to Montana. Pre-registration is advised. There are no driving tests or written exams and Montana mandates an insurance discount for qualified graduates. There is a class fee of $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. Public dance
A public dance sponsored by the Bitterroot Dancers will be held Friday, August 22. from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the Bedford Building (Hamilton City Hall, upstairs). Hospice volunteer recruitment luncheon
Aspen Hospice will hold a volunteer recruitment luncheon on Tuesday, August 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the North Valley Public Library, 208 Main Street, Stevensville. There will be a presentation and information regarding Hospice volunteer opportunities and trainings. Lunch will be provided. Aspen Hospice focuses on offering comfort, pain relief and emotional support for those nearing the end of their life.
