Victor Community Garden looking for growers

April 1, 2014 by Editor

A work day is planned towards the end of April for the Victor Community Garden to put things in order for the coming season. Through donations and grants garden supporters have installed deer proof fencing and an irrigation well with plumbing and sprinklers. Community members are invited to rent a 20 foot by 20 foot plot for $35 for the season. For the cost, renters get compost, mulch, tools, water and a fenced growing area.

Sponsored by Sustainable Living Systems, the community garden requires that organic growing methods be used. The garden is located in Victor on 5th Avenue west of Chief Victor Camp Road and the Church of the Nazarene.

A work day and ‘show and tell’ are planned for Saturday and Sunday, April 26 and 27. All the growers get together at that time to put the garden paths in condition with shavings provided by Porterbilt Post and Pole. A potluck lunch is hosted with hamburgers provided.

Anyone interested in renting garden space can contact Jill at Sustainable Living Systems, 642-3601, for a registration form.
