The Blue Devils of Corvallis jumped out to an early lead over the Ronan Chiefs in non-conference action on Friday night. Although the Chiefs tested the Blue Devils a time or two, the Blue Devils held on for a 52-38 win. Jayce Gilder finished with 22 points to lead Corvallis. Chaney Waldo dropped in another 10. The two teams matched up size wise but the determination of Gilder to get inside and the threat of Porter Jessop and Austin Ray from outside the perimeter was more than the Chiefs could handle.

Stevensville won two games this week, a conference game over Anaconda and a non-conference game over Polson.
The Stevensville Yellowjackets found their stride in the second quarter and again in the fourth quarter and powered over Polson, 64-48, in non-conference action. Although Polson took a seven point lead at the end of the first period, the ‘Jacket defense held the Pirates to only four points in the second quarter while scoring 21 points. The boys in black and gold did the same in the fourth quarter.
Zach Gavlak led the ‘Jacket scoring with 22 points. Jared Schultz added 18 points.

The Yellowjackets built upon the momentum of the Polson game on Saturday with a huge win over Anaconda. Sophomore Bryce Torrey, at 6’6”, had a breakout game, scoring 20 points on the heels of Zach Gavlak’s 24 points. Stevensville improved to 3-3 in the tough Southwest A conference and 7-6 overall.

The Hamilton Broncs played a tough game against Big Sky on Thursday night. The two teams battled to a 52 all tie at the end of regulation play. It looked as if there would be a second overtime period but Big Sky pulled ahead to win, 63-61, in the last couple of seconds.
Josh Heath had 16 points for Hamilton, including three from beyond the three point line. Kameron Kohn added 17 and Bret Huxtable 13.

Hamilton played Butte Central on Saturday in Butte. The Broncs got off to a slow start and were never able to catch up as the Maroons won, 66-43. Ty Burt was the leading scorer for the Broncs with 13 points.

The Victor Pirates took a page out of the Two Eagle River school playbook and went to a running game on Thursday in Victor. The Pirates jumped out to a 19 point lead and then added to that to cruise to a 74-43 win. The high paced game seemed to suit the Pirates with four players finishing in double figures – Nate Bishop with 22, Michael O’Leary with 14, Brady Tuttle with 12 and GP Monta with 10 points.

Bishop had another high scoring night the next night against Lincoln. The senior dropped in 24 points to lead Victor to a 44-37 13C conference win. Lincoln jumped out to an early lead but the Pirates climbed back into the game by the half and outscored the Lynx in the final period by five points for the win.

Darby’s Zach McCrossin sank a trey at the buzzer to give Darby a 70-67 win over Philipsburg in Philipsburg on Friday. McCrossin finished the night with 23 points in the hostile gym. Joe Caicedo added 32 points in the conference win.

The Tigers went to the boards and pulled down 40 rebounds compared to Valley Christian’s 33 boards in another 13C match on Saturday. Darby won, 62-58. The Tigers held off a surging Eagles team in the fourth quarter and were outscored by 12 points in the win. Caicedo finished with 25 points and McCrossin added 18.
