The Town of Stevensville agreed with the contractor LS Jensen to suspend the water and sewer line construction projects due to winter weather. The contractors are scheduled to resume construction on or about February 15, weather permitting.
Work on the water main replacement project was completed on Smith Street and on 5th Street between Park and College streets. The pavement on 5th Street was ground off and rolled in place for the winter to temporarily smooth the street, which is scheduled for repaving in April.
When work resumes, water line installation will be completed out to Selway Corporation along Eastside Highway. Water main installation will resume down College to 6th Street, then north along Church Street to Second Street. The well house construction east of Twin Creeks subdivision will continue until completed.
The sewer line construction project, along Eastside Highway to Selway Corporation, will resume with installation of new line through Lewis and Clark Park out to the treatment plant. They will then finish construction to the industrial district. This project will bring needed water and sewer service to the district and is being paid for through grants from the Montana Department of Commerce and the United States Economic Development Administration.
The Town is waiting for final approval of funding for Phase 2 of the sewer plant improvements. Final project design is being completed by HDR Engineering with construction scheduled for mid-2014.
