Corvallis making improvements

The Corvallis Blue Devils are a work in progress. With a limited number of wins over the past couple of years, this team is adapting to new coach Zane Warnken and a new way of thinking, like winners. They are gaining confidence and didn’t stop playing tough all night against Dillon on Saturday. The Blue Devils lost, 57-31, but they worked as a team and hard throughout the game. Freshman Corrine Sanderson led the Blue Devil scoring with six points.

Dillon 57, Corvallis 31

Dillon– Rouse 14, Linder 11, Schurg 2, Nye 10, Kluesner 2, Lamey 14, Christiansen 3, Tatarka 1.

Corvallis – Corrine Sanderson 6, Chelsi Clarke 5, Jane Booth 4, Kayla Lewis 4, Emme Warnken 3, Kira Doyle 4, Courtney Albright 5.

Hamilton also had a Southwest A conference game. They travled to Butte and took on the Maroons of Butte Central. The Lady Broncs jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Taylor Goligoski had 31 points to lead Hamilton.

Hamilton– Taylor Goligoski 31, Sami Kratofil 7, Ellie Hurlbert 2, Jaylee Albert 5, Brianna Huggans 5, Kloie Nye 2.

Butte Central – Trudnowski 7,  Paffhausen 15, St. John 5, Peoples 12.

Florence clobbered St. Ignatius, 60-15, in Class B action. Freshman Megan Kowalski had 16 points to lead the Lady Falcons in the lopsided win.

Florence– Megan Byrne 7, Stephanie Drodzt 3, Nikki Schurg 8, Hailey Huot 5, Carli O’Brien 8, Megan Kowalski 16, Chloe Arthur 4, Margaret Finley 9.

St. Ignatius – Castor 2, Durglo 10, Anderson 2, Charlo 1.

Darby picked up a couple of 13C wins over the weekend. The Lady Tigers defeated Philipsburg, 54-25. They held the Prospectors to only seven points in the first half while they built up an 18-point lead. Sarai McCollaum finished with 13 points and Lauren and Lacey Dolcater had 12 and 10 points respectively.

Philipsburg– Althaus 4, Pence 15, Graham 4, Shattuck 2.

Darby – Tori Johnston 2, Keely Ehmann 3, Lacey Dolcater 10, Lauren Dolcater 12, Siri Nojd 8, Sydney Bergren 4, Sarai McCollaum 13, Jessica Campbell 2.

Darby defeated Valley Christian, 52-34, on Saturday in more conference action. The two teams were tied at the end of the first quarter but then the Lady Tigers pulled ahead in the second and went on to win. Lacy Dolcater had 21 points and Lauren Dolcater added 14.

Valley Christian –  Moser 1, Kelly 3, Bestwick 2, Hill 15, Lange 10, Dybdal 3.

Victor also picked up a couple of conference wins. They defeated Lincoln, 38-30, on Friday. The Lady Pirates had to come from behind to get the win. They trailed by seven points at the end of the third quarter. Victor rallied and scored 17 points in the final stanza and held Lincoln to only two points. Freshman Payton Tillotson led the scoring for Victor with 11 points.

Victor– Ryanne Tracy 12, Payton Tillotson 11, Skye Mitcham 9, Haley Tillotson 6.

Lincoln –DenBoer 17, DeLuca 6, Erickson 4, Castagne 3.

Saturday, the Lady Pirates topped Two Eagle River School, 53-20. Strong defense and efficient scoring gave Victor the edge in the non-conference game. Sisters Haley Tillotson and Payton Tillotson combined to score 33 points for Victor. Haley finished with 17 and Payton with 16.
