Hospital to break ground for new ICU

November 19, 2013 by Editor

The Daly Hospital Foundation cordially invites the public to a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Intensive Care Unit on Monday, November 25 at 11 a.m. at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital, 1200 Westwood Drive, Hamilton. The gathering will take place at the hospital main entrance and the ceremony’s backdrop will be the future Intensive Care Unit construction site.

This event will begin with brief remarks from hospital and community leaders. You will also have an opportunity to hear heartwarming words from an Intensive Care Nurse. Immediately following this ceremony will be beverages and snacks in hospital conference rooms B and C. During this gathering you will have an opportunity to visit with the leadership and board members of the Daly Hospital Foundation and Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital and view the renderings of the future Intensive Care Unit.

This new building will be a patient centered enhancement and asset to the community and is being designed to serve valley residents for years to come,” said Amy James-Linton, marketing director for MDMH. The future Intensive Care Unit will allow the medical team to deliver the quality, accessible, personalized healthcare the community has come to expect, she said.

The future Intensive Care Unit is a community-supported project which began with an internal hospital “family” campaign; to date they have gifted approximately $780,000 to this much needed hospital expansion. Because of this commitment and the recognized need for a larger facility with individual patient rooms, an anonymous donor has made a pledge challenge of $800,000; this was the catalyst for a $100,000 grant donation from the Jane S. Heman Foundation. With these gifts and pledges, coupled with the extreme need, the Hospital Board of Directors, with the confidence that the donor challenge will be met, unanimously voted to move forward on the project. Construction is expected to begin this month.

“This is your hospital and thus, we invite you to be a part of this new beginning of critical care for our community,” said James-Linton. “With your help, support, and choice to keep your healthcare close to home, Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital can continue to make enhancements to meet the community’s needs. We look forward to sharing this exciting moment for our community on November 25th.”
